A magical realism tale touching upon corporate greed, colonialism, environmentalism and personal responsibility. Harry Solomon, a corporate shark, jumps at the opportunity to turn a South Pacific island into an international playground resort. Cutting corners to bring Solarium to fruition, he undermines the island government, disrupts the local economy, spoils the pristine coastline, and arrives at an agreement with a nuclear facility to house its waste for investment money. But when a nearby volcano blows its stack, Harry is forced to reconcile his misdeeds.

Joe Pan grew up along the Space Coast of Florida and attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His debut collection of poems, Autobiomythography & Gallery, was named “Best First Book of the Year” after being short-listed for the Yale Younger Poets prize, the National Poetry Series, and the Academy of American Poets’ Walt Whitman Award. His work has appeared in such journals as Art World, Boston Review, Denver Quarterly, Glimmer Train, the Greensboro Review and The New York Times. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
