Afraid Again

About this ebook
Afraid Again follows Alex and Amy of Mr. Cable’s first novel, Afraid of Me, on their long put off honeymoon to the Caribbean and into the middle of unintended danger. Afraid Again is populated with rich characters including:
Rick Lakewood - not a successful man. In fact, he is a pretty consistent failure. If it were not for his talent with circuit boards and his lack of professional or personal morals, he would probably starve. His weaknesses cause him to be on the run. His computer talents bring him to the attention of an even more unscrupulous man and involve him in an adventure and criminal enterprise in paradise.
Col. Isaac Smith (ret.) - ambitious if nothing else. His most ambitious and complicated plans are finally beginning to pay off. These plans, formed with military precision learned from a career in special-forces amount to a drug smuggling operation stretching from South America to the U. S. via the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. It is here that Smith has developed a need for an electronics expert willing to work on the wrong side of the law – someone like Rick Lakewood.
Amy Hudson and Alex Clark - who have created a life for themselves in rural Virginia. Although they first met in college their differing approaches to life kept them from being more than friends until they finally discovered that each could make the other whole by bringing to a relationship what the other needed to be complete.
Now they have finally decided that they have time for their long-delayed Caribbean honeymoon and for this happy couple it is off to St. Kitts and, unintentionally, into the middle of the plots of Colonel Smith and the bungling of Rick Lakewood.
Wes Cable
Wes Cable is a storyteller. His classes are well-known for the way the stories he shares weave themselves into the history he teaches thereby making that history real to his students. As an educator of over thirty years practice on both the secondary and post-secondary levels, his experiences (as a teacher, a coach, a college administrator, a greens keeper, a bartender, a son, a husband, a father, and a friend, among other things) fuel and inspire his work. As a writer, those same experiences inform his storytelling. Even in his technical, training, handbook, grant and newspaper writing, Cable has always shown that the story makes the facts more real. His first novel Afraid of Me, under the pen name Arthur West, is available through its publisher’s online bookstore at PublishAmerica.com and in print or as an e-book at both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. Afraid of Me is the journey of self-discovery that ultimately brings the Amy and Alex of his newest work - Afraid Again - to each other. His next project, an extended non-fiction rant based on his thirty years in education, discusses the need for a return to the basics of teaching, is in process. He lives and teaches in Birmingham, Alabama.
