Pursuing truth through fiction. From the gorgeous Pacific Northwest to America’s capitol and on to the Golden State, the themes best associated with Science Fiction have always fired my imagination. I grew up in Portland, Oregon surrounded by all of the environments I could wish for – mountains, ocean, desert, forests, valleys – where the beauty of the world was inescapable. Then, nearly 20 years in Washington, DC, brought me up to date on humanity. I now live in Hollywood, where I’ve been engaged in television and motion picture production. Skills and experience include: Writer, director, fundraiser, musician, songwriter, producer, actor (Sceen Actors Guild). Always working to close the gap between audition and performance. There's no such thing as nothing.

The amazing truth behind Reagan's Star Wars defense strategy pulled me into an unearthly adventure I'd never imagined possible. The end of the Soviet Union took place not on this planet, but on the most remote outpost humankind had ever established, thanks to the offbeat assembly that called itself The Moon Platoon. Earth's oceans held 300 times the living capacity of its small waterless surface. From below, someone was watching.... Upon that surface was Tom Benthos, a man in search of his long-lost father, in Greenland. And deep in the oceans lived bright minds capable of wonderful extremes. They had existed for millions of years and had never known of a world beyond the water. But some imagined one -

    A Scream In The Night

Was it the last sound the world will ever hear from a helpless victim of kidnapping? I’m afraid so – and there was nothing I could do.

    A woman just screamed.

It’s 1:53 AM, silent but for five seconds of a sustained, guttural scream.

I can’t respond, but by glancing about out the reflective window. So difficult to look.

I heard a vehicle driving past at the same time the scream occurred. Was the woman in the car? Was the voice even that of a woman?

It’s so hard to know, yet I trust my first perception. And still…

Someone just screamed. A sustained, guttural scream. I heard a cry for help. It could have been a drunken yelp.

The buildings across the street are empty. They’ve been empty for two months. Apartments, four buildings, about 100 units. Things were left behind.

Scavengers went in, first us, of course, the neighbors in-the-know. Then others. Dirty others. Unknown others. Painted walls and violent arguments from the dark, echoing parking garage.

People are kidnapped every day. A large, rumbling motor pulls up and men snatch girls into the open side door. Into the flow of red and white light streaming on, they blend.

    A woman just screamed.

What can I do? This helpless, sinking sensation sucks. If someone’s in trouble, then help them I must. Is that so unusual? Am I alone? Someone will help her, certainly, so…

It’s quiet again. Early yet in the week. It was probably the neighbor, she’s a lovemaking geek. She had her monthly orgasm, finally hit the right spot. No, I know what I heard. And what I heard not.

A woman screamed. Guttural. Low. While going past in a car, not too slow. She needed assistance, she was going away. Perhaps being taken without any say.

We’ve seen dark shadows against the black. The power’s cut off now across the
