About this ebook
Nathan Archer is a Professor of Medieval Studies, and a forensic historian who believes that Leonardo Da Vinci created a perfect copy of the burial cloth of Christ known as the Shroud of Turin. Citing an unpaid commission by the House of Savoy to paint a replica, he searches for proof that the Renaissance master employed techniques that took four centuries to reveal the faded image of Jesus.
Dallas Tanner
Dallas Tanner was born in 1956, at the stroke of midnight during the worst storm of the century to that date, in the seacoast township of North Kingston, Rhode Island. The eldest child of a career naval officer, he attended 9 schools in 12 years, as they moved about the country. His interest in local myths, legends and all things paranormal grew out of the ever-changing diversity of his upbringing. His first novel, “Shadow of the Thunderbird”, was required reading at a large technical college in South Carolina. He has frequently lectured, appeared on radio and television shows, and presented at conferences on his books and interest in cryptozoology. He is often cited in the media as an expert on unknown or unexpected animals. He was instrumental in salvaging Dan Taylor’s Nessie chaser mini-subs, the Viperfish and the Nessa II, and is currently pursuing an interest in fossil diving. When he isn’t exploring remote locations such as the Altamaha River, Mt. St. Helens or Loch Ness, Tanner is content to write novels under the watchful eye of Samwise, the longhaired Maine Coon that sleeps atop his monitor. Dallas now lives in Greenville, SC, with his wife Carla and their five children, where he is at work on his latest project. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was only a fair book. I really tried to get into it,but there were so many large chunks of "information dump" that it made it a slog. I was an English major, and I have actually been paid as an editor in the past. Reading this book, which had a good plot, my editor kept popping up and wanting to make it better. The author did a decent job of fleshing out his characters, although certain actions were a bit improbable towards the end (for the character, not overall). Primarily, I would often find myself skimming the large chunks of background information. And I would find that I still enjoyed the book, even without that information. I really wish that he would use a sharp editor as I feel that would enable his books to be read by a much larger audience.
