About this ebook

Engineering Chief Golem is pretty antsy about all this. He was sent to the Antiles to repair her terrible damage, but also because the crew would be familiar with some of the earlier members of his product line. And he is none too happy when he bumps into his brother's ex-girlfriend.

And worse yet, a contagion, hidden for a century aboard the Antiles breaks out on the Victory and infects Ensign Brahma, the resident god-like energy being.

With only the meager resources of the Starship Antiles can Golem figure out some way to contain the virus? To cure Brahma? Or at least defeat him?

Find out in the fifth episode of the Starship Victory saga!

    Starship Victory: Athenia Awakens

The Starship Timberwolf exploded in a swirl of electric light. Wreckage pinwheeled out in every direction, even a few that didn't exist. And the Science Ship Antilles quickly dodged to avoid it.

Smoke poured through the bridge. The crew did their best to ignore it and keep working. One more hit and they'd follow the Timberwolf to the starship graveyard. The Symphonic ship crept up on them, firing energy bursts at other nearby ships as it bared down.

Colonel Grench said, Is that anti-matter core loaded onto the torpedo yet?

Nother minute... said his executive officer.

The Warship Sabre exploded into shards of broken metal and swirling energy effects on the view screen.

    We don't have another minute...

An energy beam shot off from Symphonic ship. It cut through the Antilles' shields, closing in on her engine core. But a small chunk of debris from the Timberwolf spun into the beam, and deflected it.

Lieutenant Tea Kismet watched the battle unfold through the window in her quarters. She watched the Starship Camiso Rojo make a desperate, last ditch run at the Symphonic vessel and explode into shards of jagged metal.

She wondered if there was any hope of survival. She’d written a psychological profile on a few captured Symphonics back when she was stationed on the Starship Victory.

Vaguely, she hoped to be captured. Getting infected with their musical hive mind didn’t seem as bad as getting blown up. After all, she was a sociologist. Being absorbed into a different society would be most interesting. More interesting than being dead, anyway.

The missile shot free from the Antilles and tumbled weakly through space toward the Symphonic vessel. It easily passed through their energy shields without so much as a flare. Finally, it crashed into the Orchestra Class Battleship, tearing a tiny corner of it out.

Wreckage from the Camiso Rojo crashed through the Antilles’ energy shields.

Sparks shot from shattered consoles on the bridge. Colonel Grench watched the readings fill his display.

No... Plasma cannons are down. Missiles have no effect. he said, Aristotle, We need an out.

That's what the Chief of the Antiles' Engineering section was always good for. He might be only half
