    Georgia is very much on my noodle. I mean on my mind. So much that I decided to take a seven day vacation trip to some interesting places in my home state of Georgia. I also wanted to gather information about some of our state symbols and legends. Just how did the green tree frog get to be our state reptile? What are fairy crosses? Where did Spanish moss come from? Where is Georgia’s largest peanut monument? What is a gopherus polyphemus? Who is George Washington Perry? Why is Princess Trahlyta’s grave no ordinary pile of rocks? And that’s where my trip began, at the intersection of US 19 and SR 60 in North Georgia, near Dahlonega, where I could view that very same pile of rocks. Hope you have fun reliving my travels with me.

    I found the pile of rocks! But this is no ordinary pile of rocks. These rocks sit on top of the grave of a Cherokee princess named Trahlyta. She loved the forests and mountains of North Georgia so much she wanted to live there forever.
