It was with joy and amazement that Destiny Hope Cyrus came into the world on November 23, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born to Letitia Jean Tish and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, this lucky little girl seemed to have the world smiling on her from, the very start, and she smiled back. Hence, the nickname Smiley, which would later be shortened to Miley as a nickname.

Just prior to Miley's birth in March of 1992, Billy Ray was riding high on the success of his chart-topping single, Achy Breaky Heart. He made the mullet hairstyle infamous and was touring the world, promoting his CD Some Gave All.
