About this ebook
A Long Swim Upstream is a collection of stories by national radio show host Mike Feder.
Most of these stories first appeared in New York Son (Crown Publishers, 1988). They have been revised and a new story has been added for the current book. With two exceptions, the stories—told over a period of seven years, from 1981 to 1987—were first done as monologues on live radio. Later they were transcribed and edited for purposes of publication. Some of the stories have similar incidents or characters. This is because they were told years apart, each time to a new audience.
I wanted to re-tell these stories because I believe the characters and themes are universal, and because they are very good stories. There is always a new audience.
