About this ebook

SALTSHAKER is a collection from the work of award winning poet Ricky Jordan. Here we meet a firefly that claims it's a fairy, a kangaroo that doesn't know how to jump, a battle against a crossbred sea monster, and a glimpse into what the future could hold. Both entertaining and thoughtful, this is poetry that has been enjoyed by audiences and congregations alike.
At a festival of Rhythm and Rhyme it was commented that his performance was...

'...truly remarkable, and one that will leave an indelible effect on all who were present.'

Ricky's creative work and character is truly a gift to you, me, and the world. He takes poetry to another dimension. Take the poem 'Shadow Man'. He is everywhere. Many fail to see him, but Ricky blows his cover. If you want a new take on life, see 'Octark'. Part octopus, part shark. Scary but true to life - it's not all comforting - but stimulating, if you can handle...SALTSHAKER.

'...Ricky Jordan investigates Bible Stories and Christian experience with insight. The collection of poems is accessible and should prove useful for those wishing to inject imagination into their church services.'
Coral Rumble, writer and poetry consultant for the BBC

    Saltshaker - Ricky Jordan

Welcome to Saltshaker by Ricky Jordan.

This is a collection of original material which I think will illuminate the lives of all who read. Ricky aims to reach the world with his unique messages and take on life. Though he could be perceived as a 'New kid on the block' he has in fact, been writing poetry for a number of years, and I for one, have very much enjoyed experiencing his work. It is distinct, crafted by the writers vivid take on real life, and the bible. He has touched and captured the heart and imagination of countless individuals who have attended his recitals. At a festival of Rhythm and Rhyme it was commented that his performance was...

....truly remarkable, and one that will leave an indelible effect on all who were present.

The settings for these recitals have also included; Sunday services, student union outreach, fund raising events, carnival, social, youth, and county festivals, as well as local and national conferences.

Being a husband, father, poet, and now author, Ricky's creative work and character is truly a gift to you, me, and the world. He takes poetry to a new dimension. Take the poem 'Shadow Man.' He is everywhere. Many fail to see him, but Ricky blows his cover. If you want a new take on life, see 'Octark.' Part octopus, part shark. Scary but true to life - it's not all comforting - but stimulating, if you can handle... the Saltshaker.

    Methinks

    Sometimes it may feel like

    life has been haphaz-sta-ardly-to pled-gether,

much like a poem that doesn't smoothly rhyme

    or seem intellectually clever

but stick with me on this trail of thought. Now, we've got a Watch maker,

    we've got a Wine maker.

We've got a Shoe maker, we've got a Tool maker.

We've got a Pot maker, we've got a Pan maker.

    We've got a Dolly maker,

but have we got a Man maker?

    Mmm ... now there's a thought.

    Nurseries Rhyme

    Jumping Jack Flash

    straight out of the box

received the word with just emotion,

sew his belief among the rocks.
