CHAPTER ONE
The fading twilight dipped down behind the mountains, leaving the sky a tie-dyed mix of reds and purples. Waves crashed against the cliff side, the blue-black sea churning angrily. Something was brewing. From the depths of the ocean to the far reach of the heavens—there was something amiss in the air this particular night.
Something dark was on the horizon.
Jamiesonn stood, the toes of his polished black shoes jutting over the edge of the cliff. The wind whipped through his hair, tugged at the edges of his pinstriped suit. He wore a look of chiseled determination on his face as he surveyed the unstable black water. The corners of his lips pricked up in a devious smirk.
The time is nearly upon us,
he muttered under his breath. He then turned on his heel and walked down the embankment, toward a small cave.
Firelight danced along the walls as he ducked his head and walked briskly into the darkness. Water dripped all around, sea mist coating the walls. The faint sound of laughter could be heard from the depths.
He walked another twenty yards down the twisting, narrow path, the heels of his shoes clicking and echoing off the walls. The light grew brighter, the laughter louder as he approached the heart of the cavern.
Iron torches lined the walls, scattered amongst ornate carvings, depictions of torture and despair. A harem of scantily clad women, all of them with hair and eyes black as night, lounged on black marble benches. They were the source of the laughter, which now sounded more like witch’s cackling. Dark red wine flowed freely and trays of raw meat were passed around, talon like fingernails ripping into the meat, devouring it like animals, spilling blood.
Jamiesonn smiled fondly at his small kingdom. A pair of vixens hurried over to him. One took his jacket as the other placed a goblet of wine in his hand.
For you, Master,
they breathed in unison. Both smiled at him, showing off razor-sharp teeth. He patted them each on the head like dogs.
Thank you, girls. I think you’ve earned a treat.
He snapped his fingers and another two women appeared, dragging behind them a boy, no older than 15, who was groggy. The vixens looked at Jamiesonn, disbelieving. He nodded at them and they attacked, viciously slicing through the boy, blood and flesh raining down around them. Echoes of agonizing screams filled the cavern, as the two vixens hungrily devoured the young man. Jamiesonn smirked at the sight then made his way to his carved throne at the center of the room.
He slung his legs over the side and slumped down in the chair, feigning exhaustion. Three more vixens came to his aid, fanning him, providing food and wine, massaging his feet and shoulders. Jamiesonn closed his eyes, leaned his head back, soaking it all in.
The time is nearly upon us, my children,
he announced to the room. Excited whispers broke out from all around. We just need one last piece of the puzzle.
A small, fair skinned girl that couldn’t have been more than fourteen or fifteen years old wheeled an
