Mike Collins, recently turned 60, and CEO of Collins Electronics, was in no mood to negotiate. Immaculate in his pinstriped Italian silk suit, he sat in his leather swivel chair with his elbows on his huge desk and steepled his fingers beneath his chin. Brenda Rafferty, a petite brunette with blonde hair in a tight French roll, played with the eyeglasses dangling from their chain around her neck. Though only 42 herself, the firm’s chief accountant dressed like much older woman. Or perhaps she preferred vintage clothing.
