About this ebook

In a religious enclave in the Himalayas, a man lies dying of an incurable illness. In dying he pushes his son Kalki and his Scottish partner's son Andrews into a confrontation with manipulating, scheming, powerful stakeholders of his international conglomerate, unleashing madness, bloodshed, mysticism and violence. Kalki and Andrews are drawn into the race to save their lives and to defend what they hold dear.

Andrews will be drawn into the deadly conflict not of his making. Both will be stalked every step of the way by savage, cruel, ruthless men whose only pleasure is inflicting extreme pain and exacting sweet revenge!

Kalki inherits his father's international conglomerate and must immediately defend the company, and his family, from a hostile takeover from a ruthless stakeholder named Sanakia. In a battle of more than just corporate politics, Sanakia enlists the services of a notorious pirate who kidnaps Kalki's pregnant wife.

Kalki must try and save his wife, as well as his own life, as he learns of the true reasons behind Sanakia's assault against him, his family and his company. A sealed envelope left in the safe deposit box of his bank by his father before his death shatters the even tenor of Kalki’s life. Raw, chilling fear squeezes his heart and leaves him breathless. The revelation is so earth shaking for him that life will never be the same for Kalki. The deadly secret lies in an ancient six thousand year old temple belonging to Kalki’s ancestors that lies in ruins in the thick jungles of an island that came with his inheritance.

I really liked ‘Die Every Moment’. The story is gruesome, but totally captivating. It worked really well, as it also made me want to know what had happened to lead us there. Super start.

The rest of it is also fantastic. I liked the characters, the dialogue etc.

You write brilliantly and I was completely drawn into this super story. Very good show. You promised a sequel...can’t wait for ‘Die In Ecstasy’ to be out!

Desmond.

Chapter One - The light seeks to equal the darkness.

The shrill scream pierced and shattered the air. Kalki turned around in alarm.

Apsara, Apsara, he called in alarm…he couldn’t see her.

He could just move his neck. His limbs were like lead. He realized that he was tied down, spread eagled. His vision blurred for a few seconds and cleared.

In front of him, arms akimbo stood Sanakia. Gloating, his voice vibrating with arrogance, said. See who is in charge now? Not you but me, me. You want to know how pathetic your Apsara looks. Not majestic anymore, not royal anymore. Look, look, oh you cannot see.

He motioned to two of the pirates who walked up to Kalki, loosened the knots and propped him up. Sanakia clapping his hands gleefully like a devilish, mischievous kid, said, Now you can see. This you must see. He sobered up. Wiped tears from his eyes. Turned to the two bandits and said. Drag her out here now.

The two men half dragged, half carried Apsara. She was stark naked, her eyes swollen, the face black and blue, her belly big with child, looking out of proportion. Her body lay slumped on the straw covered ground. Kalki seeing his lovely Apsara bruised and battered cried out in anguish.

Sanakia stood with Sian, leering down at the naked body of Apsara. He walked over to her and fondled her swollen breasts roughly. She cried out in pain. Kalki pleaded with Sanakia to stop it.

Kalki straightened his head, which had tilted to one side. Spittle and blood had caked and stained his cheeks. Another cry caught his attention, his eyes focused.

He watched helplessly in horror, as Sian spread and held back Apsara’s legs. She was wide open. Sanakia knelt between her legs and rammed his huge blood gorged manhood into her. He rode her like a bull, Apsara crying out in pain.

Janice tied to a beam nearby screamed hysterically. No, no. she shouted sobbing uncontrollably. Sanakia, sweat running down his waxen face and panting, smiled at her and said, so sorry Mrs. Andrews you have to witness this show specially put up for kalki, your husband’s best friend and business partner.

Kalki roared in anger like an enraged wild animal, straining against the ropes. How could humans behave like beasts? Even animals don’t rape their pregnant. As Sanakia withdrew his limp manhood, blood flowed from Apsara’s body.

Sanakia walked back to Kalki. Hope you enjoyed the show brother Kalki. I have not had a woman in days. When the need arises, even a woman in full month will do. Well, the belly got in the way but… Sanakia smirked.

Kalki looked at Sanakia with revulsion. I will kill you for this, he said softly with hatred. He could taste the bile rising to his throat.

Sanakia smiled, "Well my young hero, do you know why you are alive? If I kill you, it will be easy for you. I want you to live and relive every moment of your pregnant wife’s violation. Die every moment it flashes through your mind, so that, you will loathe living and life!"

Sanakia starred at Kalki with dark fury, You cannot hide what happened to your wife. I am also leaving behind a star witness to this episode…What’s her name? Janice, Mrs. Andrews? Your partner’s wife… You want it kept a secret? Kill her and be damned!

Sian slapped Kalki lightly on his face before leaving. You cross my friend here, you pay a heavy price! He said your father wronged him and he hates your family for that and asked me for help for half the ransom. I said sure, why not, what are friends for anyway huh?

Sanakia spat as he left, You see, I win. Nobody crosses me and gets away with it. Your father’s betrayal is the cause of this, now you the son is paying for it. He splashed the far wall with petrol from a can and as he left torched it.

When your men see the flames they will come running to save you. You won’t die. I won’t let you die Kalki my friend. How else would you taste hell on earth? Sanakia left the burning building, laughing like a madman.

When Sanakia stepped out from the burning building Major Zain greeted him with disgust. He spat, gritted his teeth. You are the scum of the lowest order, you son of a bitch. You can defile a pregnant woman who is in full month. Disgusting, and doing it in front of people.

Sian standing close by smiled, rest easy major. He had to create an extremely humiliating scene for Kalki to take back, a scene that will play an endless degrading loop in his mind. And torture him every moment he is awake!

Pay me when we get back to Bali, Major Zain said harshly, it’s finished between us. I am a mercenary. I kill for money, bad enough by itself. I stop at that. You leaving Kalki alive, big mistake. He will come back with a vengeance and may God help you all then!

Sir, Kalki’s men are coming down the hill. We need to move out. One of Major Zain’s men shouted.

They could see a column of heavily armed men running at full speed down the hill slope heading for the burning wooden building. As they reached the flatlands, spread in an arc to form a dragnet to surround the building.

Let’s go, let’s go. Move it, move it! The major shouted. They will reach us within five minutes.

Major Zain ran leading his men followed by Sanakia. Sian and his pirate cutthroats followed at their heels. They ran towards the swamp where motorized flatboats were standing by with the motors running.

Svenson Thor, Steve and the men reached the burning house as the boats sped off towards the maze of swampy waterways. As some of his men ran to the edge and started firing at the receding boats Thor shouted. Stop shooting. You cannot hope to do any damage, they are too far off. We will catch them later.

Steve shot two pirate stragglers as they reached the swamp. The fleeing men had left their comrades behind in their haste to escape. He tied them to a nearby tree. Bleed to death you bastards and consider yourself lucky. When I get back to you and you are alive, God help you. You will wish you were dead.

The fire burned furiously. Smoke billowed black and thick, rising high into the sky. The wind with the high shriek of a banshee howled in a mad display of rage and fury feeding the flames.

Kalki noticed a movement in his peripheral vision and painfully turned his swollen neck. He bolted upright ignoring his pain when he saw his wife struggling to get up. Apsara, Apsara, he shouted, come to me my darling. I love you, I love you.

Apsara staggered to her knees slowly, pain racking her battered and bruised body, turned to look at Kalki with pleading eyes, no Kalki, no. I cannot live with this stigma. How can I look into your eyes my love and see the hurt every time I do so. No Kalki, no. Know that I love you. Apsara crawled nearer the flames and flung herself into the roaring fire.

Kalki clawed the air frantically in a futile attempt to get up. He was securely tied down and could not move. No, no Apsara. No my love, Kalki shouted, sobbing uncontrollably. He screamed and screamed in helpless frustration.

Steve dragged Kalki out of the burning building. He reacted like a wild animal as he was being untied and had to be restrained from running back into the blazing structure.

Janice had passed out. The man carried her away from the burning building, laid her down on the grass gently and wrapped her in a thick blanket. Her pulse had slowed. The paramedics ran forward with a stretcher to carry Janice to the waiting helicopter.

Thor pulled Steve aside, Where is Apsara. What happened to her?

Steve, his eyebrows singed, his face blackened from the fire stood stiff, Boss, I searched the burning house. No sign of Apsara. On the opposite side of the house where I found Mr. Kalki, I saw a body on fire; burnt beyond recognition…could be that of Apsara? She is the only one unaccounted for.

I hope not, for Kalki’s sake. I hope not Steve. It will devastate him. Don’t come to any conclusions yet. Check it out please.

Thor picked Kalki up gently in his arms like a baby and walked towards the waiting chopper. Thor looked down at the young man in his arms. He was alive, but dead inside. Something had snapped inside him.

He, Thor must put ‘life’ back into Kalki and trigger the murderous rage of a beast sleeping deep within him! Retribution must follow. Kalki stared back at Thor, his eyes vacant. There was no reaction at all.

The pilot and co pilot helped carry Kalki into the helicopter, put him on a stretcher and secured him. Thor buckled on his seat belt; leaned back and sighed with sadness. He closed his weary eyes. It seemed like only yesterday that the intruders landed on the island and the troubles began leading to this fiasco…but why? He still could not fathom.

Thor’s headset crackled into life, Sir, I have some bad news, Steve sounded grave, We have Apsara’s body. It’s burnt badly except for the side of the face in contact with the ground. It’s horrible sir.

Please Steve, spare me the graphics. As long as it is confirmed, bring it home.

Thor felt spent, drained. He glanced over his shoulder. Kalki lay still his features relaxed. He dared not say anything more or mention names. What if Kalki was just lying with his eyes closed but not asleep. What would his reaction be? He couldn’t read Kalki’s state of mind.

    ***

Lord Alec Mac Mahon glanced at Kalki sitting propped up on the hospital bed. He said, Kalki for the moment take the pirate issue out of your head. Get well, get strong then you can think about what you want to do.

Alec Mac Mahon could feel Kalki’s aguish, Let go the past. I know it is not easy, nothing is, but try. Physically Apsara is separated from you. But she is always alive in your mind, in your heart. She will not be expecting you to wallow in self-pity. She will expect you to be strong. Be strong.

    Kalki nodded.

Alec Mac Mahon had never seen this Kalki before…soft, vulnerable and on the brink of tears. To him Kalki had always been the tough self-assured man full of confidence. He knew deep in his heart that Kalki will get out of this phase stronger and tougher.

You know Uncle Alec I cannot forget what happened to Apsara and Sian’s betrayal. It’s just a matter of time and I will have my vengeance. There will be no retreat whatsoever, guaranteed, even if it costs me my life. I will die happily knowing I have killed him…and how can I forget my darling uncle Sanakia? I need to kill him too.

Yes papa, in this I am with Kalki. Although Janice was not harmed, Apsara is family to us and I will assist in any way I can. I am angry too dad. We were not responsible for all this shit. They were, in the first place. The bastards attacked us in the first place without provocation! Andrews exploded in anger.

If I kill Sian I will be doing a great favor to a lot of people? He is into piracy, slavery, human trafficking and drugs. Kalki said harshly.

Alec Mac Mahon looked concerned, Don’t make hasty decisions in anger. But you have to be careful Kalki. Your resort is nearing completion, once completed and you have guests you cannot have attacks happening or if you have a situation where Sian kidnaps your guests, you are done for.

You have a point uncle I need to eradicate this menace soon and permanent. If something like this happens then I might as well close shop. I will have a white elephant in my hands. Millions of dollars will go down the drain. Kalki acknowledged.

Lord Mac Mahon motioned for Kalki to come to him. He hugged and held him as a father would a child, with love and concern.

Alec Mac Mahon put his hands around Kalki’s shoulders and said, You have always been family Kalki and from now I am going to seal it with a special bond that cannot be broken at all. From now I will be a father to you. Will you be my son?

Alec Mac Mahon held Kalki at arm’s length looked straight into his eyes and said, "Be strong Kalki. Believe in God. Believe he is always with you. Let me share with you a passage I read on a religious calendar some time ago…It goes like this:

One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes of his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonged to him and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times during the path of his life, there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most, you would leave me."

The Lord replied. My son, my precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trials and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

Kalki’s eyes misted, his vision blurred with tears. He held Mac Mahon
