About this ebook

Imagine you had the ability to force your will onto others. Now imagine that those very same powers forced your parents to disown you when you were a young teen.

This is Ryan’s reality. He wanders the streets day in and out, wondering what he’d done to be so unlucky.

On a cold, winter’s day, he is confronted by a federal agent, intent on arresting him. Ryan has no intention of going quietly, and knows just how to make his escape. Unfortunately for him, the agent is one step ahead.

This is not one of my favorite covers exactly, But guess what, I ended up really enjoying this story. Christine likes to dress in black (including her makeup) and a little shy and standoffish. She has a full time job to save up for a car and is an only child. One day she wakes up and things are a little off, she keeps hearing voices but nobody is saying the things outloud. Soon (after a freak out in class) she discovers that she is hearing people's thoughts. Eventually she ends up "overhearing" Ethan thinking about some supernatural powers that he has and she approaches him and they soon find a connection and a friendship that is closer than any others she has ever had. Ethan eventually talks her into exploring their powers and trying to use them to help people. Here is when we get to see some action and adventure throughout the story when they save others from deadly situations. Ethan also helps her explore the world outside the one Christine is used to. They have a great connection and learn from each other. Along with Ethan, the new friends she makes helps her open up and live life, and explore new things. As Ethan and Christine are discovering their new powers together, they also learn that some of the other students at school have powers as well, and not all of them are used for good. Christine herself, is found to use her powers for selfish reasons and testing herself to see how far she can go. What I found interesting about this book was that it was a combination of genres. There is the story of the superheros, how they came about, their powers, training and saving people. You get some action, some history and some humor. Then you get a more contemporary story of high schoolers, making friends, finding love and dealing with the basic problems of life. I found this appealing and the fact that the author, being male and writing about superheroes I was expecting the main character to be from a male's perspective. Very intriguing and I felt his perspective as a girl was spot on. High School Heros has Action, Adventure, Thrill and Mystery with a very contemporary high school romance.

I'll be the first to say that the cover does not grab me at all. I do my best not to judge a book by the cover and read the book. Now, with that being said, this is a really good book. I mean, really good. I was blown away of how much action was in it. The characters and plot were good. They all have a great depth to them that made you feel the characters and draw you even more in the book. The plot is what grab me. The plot had lots of action, drama and a great build up to a good fight in the end. I felt strong and happy when reading this book. It was super funny cause when I was reading this book, I was dodging and moving around when the fight rolled around. My husband looked at me weird. LOL! Mr. Mascia did a great job with the storyline and keeping the reader entertain. Not once did I get bored or tired of the plot. If anything the plot kept you on your toes.By now, you should know that I love secrets. I LOVE them. To me, revealing secrets is like the icing on the cake. I like gasping and feeling surprised myself. I loved reading that. I enjoyed learning the secrets and especially knowing what it can do to you if you let it take over. I like the lesson learn in the end. It has a nice touch with learning and controlling your powers.High School Heroes is great book with lots of action in it. Mr. Mascia pulls the reader in, drowning them in his story. Not only did the reader see the characters grow, but the reader see the progress of friendships and new beginnings. If you like X-men, but for teens, read this book. I can guarantee that while the cover will not blow you away, the story will.
