About this ebook
Edith works for Number Crunchers Incorporated. Her job? Determine the monetary worth of each human being. But her corporation has a nemesis—the EISHies. The ridiculously sentimental organization sabotages Crunchers, Inc, and other places just like it. Edith must find how the EISHies infiltrated her business—and then figure out what to do about it, without succumbing to the EISHies’ subversive message: Everyone Is Someone’s Hero.
“The tale of an executive on the edge in a 1984-style setting.”
—Tangent Online
“Rusch has created a nicely updated twist on the old SFnal we-are-all-a-number trope.”
—The Internet Review of Science Fiction
Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s occasionally strange stories have appeared in a variety of genres under a variety of names. She writes as Kris DeLake, Kristine Grayson, and Kristine Dexter in romance, Kris Nelscott in mystery, and uses her own name, Kristine Kathryn Rusch in science fiction, fantasy, and mystery. Usually she claims all of her short stories, although sometimes she wonders the wisdom of that, despite all the awards and best-of-the-year collections her stories have acquired.
