About this ebook
A group of four poems and three short stories that all deal with magic of sorts. It starts with a poem called "Raindrop Waltz," a whimsical take on nature. The first story, "The Great Magic," explains how magic came to be in the world. This is followed by a long poem called "Have You Heard of the Flerd." The poem is about a young creature called a flerd and his search for meaning and joy. Next is a story about a sailor's adventures. His ship wrecks, and people from an island help him and his crew get back under way, but there's something strange about that island! After "The Imaginary Island" is the poem "Dandelion Fluff," a musing on childhood. The third story, "Dragon Light," is about magic from a dragon's point of view. The book wraps up with the poem "Night," which deals with the mysterious beauty of a mystical time of day.

Raindrop Waltz
***********
Lightning takes the raindrop’s hand;
Thunder keeps the beat.
A waltz that starts out slow and gentle,
Then increases tempo.
The wind performs a wild tango
In the top tree branches.
Rain skips and swirls amid the grass,
Flirting with the flowers.
Symphonies flash in the sky;
Rumble through the air.
A dance as old as time itself;
Music from the heavens.

The Great Magic

Well, my children, I suppose I’ll tell you the story of how magic came to be in the world. What’s that you say? You don’t believe in magic? How can you not believe in magic?! It surrounds us every minute of every day! I suppose I’ll have to convince you that magic really does exist.
It all started many, many eons ago, when The Creator--or the Great Spirit, if you please--was
