American Wasps
American Wasps
The more familiar American wasps are the likes of the bigger social species like the yellow jackets and the potter wasps. The yellow jacket wasp name is used for many types of wasps such as ground dwelling wasps that can be found in America. Other American wasps in the yellow jacket family are the polistes wasps and the potter wasps. The American polistes wasps build nests made from paper that they hang from tree branches or from the eaves of homes. The American potter wasps build clay nests and hang them from tree branches or shrubs. Other American wasps include the spider wasp who constructs their nests in the ground. They paralyze spiders and berry them inside the nest with eggs laid
