    Elizabeth Hockins was born in Cunnamulla, on 29th November 1941. She lived on Spelling Point Station til age five years when the family moved to Old Bando Station, then Minetta Station, Wyandra. Excepting for three years boarding in Charleville, most of her education was by correspondence school, taught by her mother, Holley Jones.
