About this ebook

The Roaring Twenties – a time of prohibition, speakeasies, jazz and glorious liberation. Ruby Russell knows precisely how to take advantage of both the debauchery of the era and the men who delight in it. When she sets out to toy with her newest target, though, the secretive and jaded Jameson Forbes proves to be far more than she had ever anticipated.

...“So, you are a lady with a liking for whiskey, Miss Russell,” he murmured, speaking only to distract himself from his urges. “An unusual fancy for a lady, wouldn’t you say?”

“Times are changing, Mr. Forbes.” Ruby smiled up at him, resting her head against his shoulder and revelling in the heat of his body against her own. “A woman may do very many things now that were once solely a man’s preserve –
I have tastes for things that may startle even you.”

“I am a very hard man to shock, Miss Russell, but I anticipate that I shall greatly enjoy your efforts to surprise me.”

“Oh, I intend to ensure that you do!” She laughed softly as they swayed together in time to the strains of the piano, allowing him to lead her through the dance as her fingers began to play with the knot of his tie, loosening it enough to slip her fingers underneath it to reach for the topmost button of his shirt.

“Are you so very keen to undress me, Ruby with the red, red lips?”...

Isadora Rose

Isadora Rose is a nom de plume for this author to unleash some of her darker tales upon the users of Smashwords. You won't find PWP here - if that's your thing, then great, but I believe that the experience of reading erotica is enhanced by a story woven throughout that pulls you in just as surely as the erotic encounters themselves. My stories are written with that aim in mind. I make no apology for the dark twists and turns they might make, and I only hope that you enjoy the journey in every way. All reviews are gratefully read and much appreciated.

    Part One

Jameson Forbes took a deep drag on his cigar as he tossed his cards down onto the table. Smoke hung heavy in the air of the dingy, backstreet bar, dancing in the dim light and weaving around his head. Pushing his chair back, he rested his polished shoes on the edge of the round table.

The faint melodies of the jazz singer writhing against the piano as she sang her sultry, haunting melodies barely penetrated the fog of his mind. Fidgeting with the tight, starched collar of his shirt, he crooked a finger at the proprietor of the speakeasy as his opponent grimaced, pushed his stake across the table and slunk away.

A bartender bustled towards him as the door swung open. Everyone froze as the newcomer was framed in the doorway, then exhaled as one as the intruder was revealed to be a woman. The faint amber glow of the streetlights behind her highlighted the undeniably feminine curves and contours of her body.

A small, predatory smile playing around the corner of his lips, Jameson set his cigar down on the edge of the ashtray to devote his attention to the lady before him. She was a beauty; of that there was no doubt. Wispy, close-cropped ebony curls escaped from the cloche hat that covered them and her beaded dress left her arms and slender calves exposed to his hungry stare.

The dress clung in an all-too tempting fashion to her high, pert breasts, and the numerous necklaces that nestled between them only focused his attention there. Tearing his eyes away with difficulty, Jameson raised his head to study her face.

The smear of red across her full lips was the perfect contrast to her pale, unblemished skin, and her kohl-rimmed eyes were an entrancing shade of innocent baby-blue, framed by a set of thick, spiky eyelashes. They widened as they swept across the room and settled unmistakably upon Jameson himself.

Delighted to be the subject of her gaze, he reached up and tipped his black fedora towards her as the bartender reached his side. His cock hardened and twitched demandingly against the constraints of his trousers and Jameson swallowed hard as the bartender leaned in towards him. Another double bourbon, my man, and whatever the lady is having, he muttered hoarsely, his winnings forgotten as he swung his feet to the floor and rose from his chair.

Ruby Russell could not tear her eyes away from the man who lounged so casually in his chair. An effortless air of charm and confidence seemed to exude from him and as she sensed his appraising gaze sweep over her body, her tongue darted out across her lips.

These speakeasies were the perfect haunt. How she adored the liberated, non-judgmental atmosphere that could be found within! Ruby
