They say seein’ is believin’ , but I know that’s not always the case . . .

Take for instance the time me an’ Timmy were but young teens, growin’ up in Central Pennsylvania. It’s been so many years, you’ll forgive me if my recollection is a bit hazy. Let’s see here . . . oh yes, mom an’ dad would never let us speak of it openly, but they’re all gone now, bless their hearts. Timmy has since passed as well, leavin’ only my younger sister an’ me.

The year was 1936, yes it was; that you can be sure of. The world was a different place back then. Family actually meant somethin’; bein’ twins did too. Me an’ Timmy had ourselves a regular good time playin’ jokes on our friends. Why, Sally never knew if it was me kissing her or Timmy stealin’ a playful squeeze of her breasts behind the outhouse. You see, there weren’t but more than a dozen or two houses in our little town of Carnwath, affectionately pronounced Corn-moth by us natives. So everyone kinda knew everyone else. It was like the town was one big family. Heck, the nearest grocery store was over thirty minutes away, up yonder there in Clearfield. Mom an’ dad sometimes took orders for everyone, an’ spent all day Saturday bringin’ back food an’ other supplies.

We had our own little church too, believe it or not, an’ folks from all the other little towns would come by on Sundays to worship with us. Families as far as New Millport, Kellytown, Oakridge an’ even Madera were regulars, but that was a long time ago. They ended up tearin’ that church down in the1980's, once the government saw it to be a more of a hazard than anything else. A remnant of my childhood died that day, but that’s neither here nor there. But enough
