    THE SLEEPER AGENT

There was a bounce to his step. Zach hurried along to the place assigned for today’s contact. After a time of waiting, finally there it was. Another silver metallic craft, quite different from the one he would ordinarily be taken in. It had made a splashing, emergent rise out of the stillness of the black waters of the hitherto calm and peaceful lake, rising to a height of about twenty metres, before it stopped and remained in a hovering position with barely a sound at all, and only the mere hint of droning or whirring emanating faintly.

Many bright and richly hued coloured lights blazed randomly about the middle section of the craft’s hull, pulsing as if with some hidden purpose or meaning.

Eventually, an opening or hatchway extended from a circular, metallic section of the lower underside section of the craft, irising itself outwards hydraulically.

Zach felt the familiar, gentle pulling sensation on his body, and as it gradually grew in strength, so did the visual display of amorphous light beams that were being directed towards him, and he was powerless against their unyielding, tractor-like gravitational pull.

It was not long before he was feeling a sensation of gravity again, and then of being dragged slowly through the air, to be carefully and delicately guided into the ship via a hatchway or entry point.

Lying stationary, deep down in the bowels of the dark and muddy lake, the saucer-like alien spaceship pulsed and glowed with a beautiful luminescence; the colours themselves constantly shifting as they morphed from one to the next. Of course, the alien ship had purposefully dived into the depths of this lake, which was only five miles from the Morris farmhouse. Its flight commander, appearing considerably impatient, paced about at his command post nervously, his mind racing. The Zero point drive in need of radical overhaul, couplings having to be replaced entirely, warranting this prolonged underwater sojourn – it was all going to take far too long, this repair work; much more than was his liking. Indeed, all of the calibrations to be reposited back into their former precise levels of total exactitude, as would normally be the case, would certainly cause a hugely aggravating delay in getting the rescue mission up and running in order to return shipmate Krael to relative safety and security.
