The Magical World of Sebella - Thea Berg

    Cornerstones.

    Chapter One – The Arrival

The stormy, gloomy day trapped Sebella inside her home. "Arghhh," she sighed. Kneeling on the couch, she banged her head on the window, causing the glass to rattle like the tail of a snake. She slapped her hands against the pane making a thunderous clap. Her fingers curled as her pink nails scratched the glass, causing a spine-tingling chill.

What’s going on? her mom asked.

Sebella slid off the couch like a limp noodle. "I’m sooooo bored. I need adventure."

Not every day has to be an adventure. Sometimes it’s nice to be home, safe and sound with your family, Sebella’s mom said.

Sebella tilted her head to gaze at her mom. What is she rambling on about?

Your cousin is coming over, her mom added.

Sebella twisted her face into a sourpuss expression. I’m mad at Prudence. She turned Princess Licorice into a porcupine last week.

Princess Licorice, who napped on the couch beside her, purred."

Hooonnnkkk. A blaring horn that could wake zombies from their graves roared from outside. Sebella jumped back onto the couch to look out the window. A giant metal contraption with the word Movers on the side barreled down the street. It stopped at the house across from Sebella’s.

Sebella watched men unload beds, a kitchen table, chairs, and all the other items you normally see in a home.

Sebella focused on one burly man. He held a petite box cloaked with a sparkly cloth. He gently carried it up the driveway. Sebella’s eyebrow rose. Must be something important in the box.

The man’s galoshes splashed into a giant puddle. His foot skidded out from under him. His boots twisted and turned as he surfed through the tidal wave. It was too late. Wipeout. The cloth soared into the sky as the box hit the ground with a powerful thud exposing the objects from inside.

Sebella squealed. She had a funny feeling about this box. Her eyes focused on a board game with the word Ouija on it. What does the word Ouija mean, and why haven’t I ever played this?

She noticed a painting that would hang on a wall. It was of one big eye, and it glared directly at her, giving her an evil look. She looked away quickly.

A white crystal glass ball rolled out, picking up speed as it headed down the driveway. The man sprinted over the yard grabbing items spilling from
