Introduction

Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call (also known as Professor Layton and the Last Specter), is the latest instalment in the Professor Layton series. A prequel to the first three games, it sees Professor Layton teaming up with an assistant, Emmy Altava. A letter is received from a close friend, claiming his village is being attacked at night by a spectre, and so Professor Layton and Emmy set off for Misthallery to crack this mystery.

With over one hundred and seventy new puzzles to immerse yourself in, including brain teasers, logic puzzles, sliding puzzles and peg solitaire, there is plenty of fun (and probably frustration) to be had.

But that’s where I come in. This guide is here to minimise that frustration and to assist you with those troublesome puzzles!

Get stuck in, earn as many picarats as you can and then use them to unlock top-secret bonuses, a list of which is included at the end.

So lets go!

(Please note that puzzle titles may differ slightly between EU and US versions of the game, but the puzzles are the same.)

Puzzle 001- A secret Message

10 picarats:

Answer: HelpSOS. Read the first letter of each line to solve. It will spell this out.

Puzzle 002-Tourist Spotting

25 picarats:

Answer: A, B and D were taken by the same set of tourists. Look at the shadows.

Puzzle 003- Pick A Package

20 Picarats

Answer: 2nd from the bottom, 2nd from the right. This is the only box with a box the same colour below it.

Puzzle 004- Reloading the Cart

30 picarats

Answer:

Puzzle 005- River Crossing

25 Picarats

Answer: Take the two cats across first and follow this with two chicks. Now before you go back, take a cat on the raft with you again [so the chicks outnumber the cats], now take the last chick across, let them all off and finally bring the dog over.

Puzzle 006- Letter Box Plate

30 Picarats

Answer: The number 1234 is formed by the spaces between the pieces, not the pieces themselves. Arrange the tiles in such a way to show this. Note that the darker tiles are the tiles on the top and the bottom. Also, the tiles must follow a pattern: orange, green, orange, green etc when placed next to one another.

Puzzle 007- Mopping Up

45 Picarats

Answer: 10 mops- Three mops are used every 9 days. The 4th mop can be used on the 10th day, once. Follow this pattern every nine days!

Puzzle 008 -Hall of Mirrors

30 Picarats

Answer: The beam from the laser makes an arrow and it points to B: this is the exit. You need to put the laser pointer on the small arrow, turn it on and this will show the big arrow.

Puzzle 009- Certain Curtains

20 Picarats

Answer: Curtain B. B could actually look like 13 if written poorly.
