- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked the book for a few reasons. I liked the illustrations in the book and I liked the authors descriptive writing. The illustrations in the book help create mood within the text while the reader reads. For example, when Michael and Shelia were looking at all the different things within the fire station, you could see the excitement on their faces through the illustrations. I liked the descriptive writing in the text like when Shelia's father is talking to Shelia and says, "You are absolutely filthy". Using descriptive writing makes the text more engaging to the reader. The main message in the story is to follow the rules. Michael and Shelia went into the fire truck without permission which caused them to get dirty and have to stay in the bath tub for multiple days until they were clean. If they would have followed directions the first time, they wouldn't have gotten dirty in the first place.
