After a roaring night on the town, fun-loving flapper Lilly Margolis, dazed and disoriented, twists her ankle and falls into the backyard of a wealthy family where the effects of the Great War—over for more than half a decade—are still endured. Inside the walls of the Burnside mansion, Cullen Burnside, a disillusioned and disfigured veteran, and his widowed mother, Betty Ruth, who daily slips a little further into dementia, lead a lonely existence … until Lilly. Whimsical, lighthearted, and beautiful, she rejuvenates their sad, disconnected lives and blossoms in the light of their attention.
But Lilly, like Cullen, is hiding from a painful past. And when Cullen insists on returning her to her faraway home, their budding attraction seems destined to die on the vine. The resulting road trip becomes a journey of self-discovery—but what will Cullen and Lilly find at journey’s end?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5"LILIES IN MOONLIGHT" BY ALLISON PITTMANIt's the roaring twenties and Lilly Margolis literally stumbles into what could be true love. With her charm, wit, and love of life she changes the lives of two people that had thought their happiness at an end. This story was delightful and intriguing, a beautiful tale of love and how one person could change your life forever.-Kitty Bullard / Great Minds Think Aloud Book Club
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Out on her own, Lilly Margolis, finds herself selling makeup to the affluent of the town in order to scrape by. Even in these dire circumstances the contageousily energetic Lilly fills the nights on the town fully enjoying the 20's flapper life style. However, after just such a night out Lilly falls and twists her ankles, hurt and disoriented Lilly finds herself in the backyard of the Burnside family. Never did she imagine that one night out would change her entire life.
Nor did the Burnside family count on one quirky, life-filled energetic young lady to change their world. Betty Ruth and her disfigured veteran son Cullen are merely passing their days. Cullen, battling the fatique of war and disfigurement daily cares for his widowed mother who suffers from increasing dementia. In this house grey hopelessness has settled and Lilly is just the one to bring life into a stifling situation.
Fearing that Lilly will dupe his mother out of money Cullen is on gaurd. But even so, he finds himself drawn to this unquenchable breath of life, the indistiguishable flame of enthusiam. Thus begins a journey of two people gaurding against love and fighting their own demons.
Will they find the courage to face their individual secrets and come to term with the things that most haunt them in order to find true love and healing.
An excellent read.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Lilly Margolis is a rebellious flapper girl who sell makeup door to door for a living. Out on the town one night she had an accident and ended up in the backyard of Betty Ruth and her son Cullen Burnside.. Betty Ruth who is battling dementia fell in love with Lilly but Cullen was more reserved. He was scarred from the war and was also dealing with other issues of the past. This is a fun story and the era was fun to read about. It also dealt with more serious issues like redemption so it was balanced.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a fun book to read. It was a great book to relax too and could easily be picked up at anytime. I loved the sweet story of Lily and the common story of the man she is falling for not thinking he is good enough, or wanting to protect the women he loves. Sometimes in books like this I just want to smack the main character and just tell them to give into love already! But, then again that wouldn't make a great story line. I look forward to future books by Allison Pittman.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read a fair amount of historical Christian fiction. I tend to gravitate towards stories taking place in the late 1800s in the West. When I saw the description for Lilies in Moonlight by Allison Pittman I was interested in reading it because the location and time in history was so different than what I usually read. I enjoyed this book very much. The characters were likeable. The relationships between Lilly and Cullen and Lilly and Betty Ruth really anchored the whole story; each growing and changing in different ways throughout the story. High recommend if you are a fan of Christian fiction.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Thank you to Multnomah and Early Reviewers for the chance to review this new book by Allison K. Pittman.Lilies in Moonlight takes place in the 1920's. This time period intrigues me because my grandmother would have been the same age as the main character during the same time. It was interesting to learn about the flapper lifestyle. I found Lily's lighthearted manner very entertaining. Behind her antics, however, Lily has her own demons to overcome as does the other main character, Cullen. I enjoyed the story, but I did think everything was wrapped up more quickly than it would most likely be possible in real life. I would definately recommend this book and would love to read more books taking place in the 1920's.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I received this from the Early Reviewers program. I think this is the first book I've read set in this time period of the early 1920s. Lily Margolis is a free-spirited flapper in search of something more. She literally falls into the life of Cullen Burnside and his eccentric mother Betty Ruth. Cullen is a former professional baseball player with a less than illustrious carrier in the majors. After a discouraging season, he enlists in the army. Damaged and disfigured, he lives his life, resigned to do nothing more than hide in his mansion caring for his "confused" mother. Both Lily and Cullen realize they need to find better meaning in their life. A long journey proves to be just what they need to find the answers God has for them. I found myself laughing aloud at some of Lily's antics. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the story, some of the drawn-out descriptions stopped the flow of the story. I look forward to reading more by this author.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed this book. I received it from the Early Reviewers program, and it's the best one I've received from them so far. This book had an unusual setting which I found interesting, but the best part by far was the characters. I loved Lilly and Cullen! And Betty Ruth was just great. These characters are worth taking the time to get to know. The only draw back to this book (in my opinion) was the spiritual aspect which could best be described as "muddy" but does not detract from a great story!
