About this ebook

Entreri and Jarlaxle find themselves in the Bloodstone Lands, caught between the ghost of a power-mad lich and the fury of an oath-bound knight

One of the long-lost books of the late Witch-King, Zhengyi, has been found. Its pages promise unimaginable powers—and the threat of death. But even the fact that the book kills anyone foolish enough to crack its cover does not stop people from fight over it . . .

Human assassin Artemis Entreri and his dark elf companion Jarlaxle have come to the demon-haunted wastelands of the frozen north at the request of their dragon patron. It doesn’t take long for them to find themselves trapped in the middle of a struggle between powerful forces that would like nothing more than to see them both dead—or worse. But Entreri and Jarlaxle aren’t just any wandering sellswords, and the ancient evils and bitter blood-feuds of the wild Bloodstone Lands may have finally met their match.

Promise of the Witch-King is the second book in the Sellswords trilogy and the fifteenth book in the Legend of Drizzt series.

Author

R. A. Salvatore

Over three decades ago, R. A. Salvatore created the character of Drizzt Do’Urden, the dark elf who has withstood the test of time to stand today as an icon in the fantasy genre. With his work in the Forgotten Realms, the Crimson Shadow, the DemonWars Saga, and other series, Salvatore has sold more than thirty million books worldwide and has appeared on the New York Times bestseller list more than two dozen times. He considers writing to be his personal journey, but still, he’s quite pleased that so many are walking the road beside him! R.A. lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Diane, and their two dogs, Dexter and Pikel. He still plays softball for his team, Clan Battlehammer, and enjoys his weekly DemonWars: Reformation RPG and Dungeons & Dragons 5e games.

Another adventure of Jarlaxe and Artemis this time vs a living evil castle (really). Quite entertaining but just for fans....

Jarlaxle and Artemis Entreri are adventuring again. This time they find themselves in the wasteland of Vaasa, working for dragon sisters in the recovery of ancient artifacts of the long dead Zhengyi. One of the most action packed books I have read. Very enjoyable in seeing some of Salvatores characters other than the heroes of the hall. Can not wait to read Road of the Patriarch.

This novel is about 2 recurring characters from the Drizz't series of books - but not any of the good guys. The evil Jarlaxle and Artemis have set off together to do... something. Why one completely evil and one completely chaotic pair of self-centered loners would get together for any reason really isn't demonstrated in this book. Jarlaxle seems to determined to help Artemis find his secret purpose in life, as if killing for hire wasn't really his purpose. Given the fact that in previous books, these two are some of the deadliest killers in the whole world, the idea that they would wander off and become bounty hunters in a contest, and not win, is a bit far-fetched. The action is good, but the plot is just not very convincing, and these two really can't carry a novel. Anyone who rates this book highly must enjoy books about evil characters doing cool stuff for no good reason.

This is a book of fantasy adventure, so don't expect good literature. Here the heroes are the two main villains of the previous Drizzt Do'Urden saga written by R.A. Salvatore. Their adventures are quite entertaining and it begins to deepen in their personality.
