About this ebook

In Revealing Heaven, Reverend John W. Price makes the case for how near-death experiences can be gifts from God and are fully compatible with Christian spirituality and the Bible. As a pastor open to near-death experiences, he has heard more than 200 personal accounts of this phenomena.

Todd Burpo's bestelling book Heaven Is for Real, the story of a young child’s near-death experience, has validated the existence of heaven and of God for many. Yet there are Christians who remain uncomfortable with the idea of near-death experiences; they wonder if these events are in line with the Bible and Christian teaching.

In Revealing Heaven: The Christian Case for Near-Death Experiences, Reverend Price shares compelling testimonies that prove that Christians can not only trust near-death experiences as valid and consistent with Biblical teaching, but he demonstrates how they can help us understand death, grief, and what happens after this life is over, and provides ample reasons for us to be open to these amazing stories and to hope for what we’ve always dreamed about.

John does a good job chronologically guiding his readers through John’s own journey and how far he came in appreciating NDEs. His journey provides insights that can be motivating. Especially how he was forced to decide if he was going to personally be committed to the truth or stay within the comfort of organized institutionalized denominational religion.
While John mentions many Scriptures, he fails to demonstrate a cohesive understanding of how all scripture is inspired by God and points to the same message - instead John takes portions of Scripture and treats them like progressing common law where the timing of the particular Scripture’s writing has the effect of overriding an earlier dated Scripture.
In short, this is a very solid NDE read; however, the reader should go to other sources for doctrinal insights and how to best handle the Scriptures.

An interesting take on near-death experiences from a Christian perspective. One of the ways this book is set apart from other books concerning NDE's is that it also includes a section on hellish NDEs--how the afterlife is not just about mercy and grace, but also about justice. I liked it, would reccommend to people interested in a more theological explanatory model of NDES.

Ever since I witnessed my grandfather pass this past November I have had a strange curiosity about the afterlife. I have officially watched my paternal grandmother, paternal grandfather, and my mother die. Once you have experienced death first hand you are never really the same. On one hand I am not anxious about death and plan on living a good long life until I can go no further. However, I often wonder what the afterlife is like. Do people really meet their long lost relatives in heaven and do rapists go straight to hell? Are gays and lesbians damned to hell or are they just like everyone else and going to heaven? Will my pets be in heaven and will they remember me? Is heaven real or is there a nothingness that some atheist believe? Every once in a while I see a book that catches my eye and I pick it up. This book was one such act. This book is a wonderful collection of stories about near death experiences that have happened throughout the United States. The author goes through great detail to show Christians that real death experiences are valid and should be accounted for. It has been a past trend for the church state not to recognize near death stories. Science has stated that it is just the lack of oxygen to the brain that calms the mind as the body is dying. Either way I found this book to be a fascinating read and am happy that I purchased it. I plan on forwarding it too my father. I have never been an overly religious person and do not belong to any particular church or denomination. I do believe that near death experiences are real and like many ghost stories I find comfort in the fact that it lets people know that we still exist after our body shuts down. I highly recommend this book if you are exploring this subject or if you have a loved one dealing with death. It covers many topics and is only 158 pages long, so it is a quick read.
