About this ebook

"Nobody writes to-die-for military heroes like Catherine Mann!" — Suzanne Brockmann, New York Times bestselling author of Tall, Dark and Devastating

It should have been a simple mission…

Pararescueman Wade Rocha fast ropes from the back of a helicopter into a blizzard to save a climber stranded on an Aleutian Island, but Sunny Foster insists she can take care of herself just fine…

But when it comes to passion, nothing is ever simple…

With the snowstorm kicking into overdrive, Sunny and Wade hunker down in a cave and barely resist the urge to keep each other warm… until they discover the frozen remains of a horrific crime… Unable to trust the local police force, Sunny and Wade investigate, while their irresistible passion for each other gets them more and more dangerously entangled…

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I love this type of military romantic suspense. I would compare the general subject matter to Suzanne Brockmann, but Mann has her own distinct voice that I fell in love with. So many things that were great about this book. The hero, pararescueman Wade "Brick", is everything you want in an hero. Besides being incredibly hot, he is intelligent and kind. He has his own emotional wounds that need healing. I liked that when we were in his point of view, it read like a man (not everyone can pull that off). Sunny is a strong heroine (my favorite kind). She's independent and fearless and hiding her own dark secrets. They had a believable connection and the right amount of romance versus suspense for my tastes. The setting in this book (the Aleutian Islands) was original and the details were done so well you felt like you were there. The pacing was excellent, and there were so many cliff hangers you wanted to keep turning the page. I loved the Misty (Sunny's sister) sub plot. There was just enough of it to be developed without detracting. And as if all of that didn't sell me, Chewie the dog stole the show on numerous occasions. I couldn't ask for anything more from a romantic suspense. I bought the second book in the series when I was only half way done with this one. I HIGHLY recommend.

I loved this!! Such a quick read (I only bought it a few hours ago) but what a romantic story. Lots of twists and turns, lots of side stories going on. Well done.

This book features a strong woman that doesn't need a man to save her!! Good book, even better female lead character.

First book by author that I've read,... but it will not be the last! I really like the way Catherine Mann writes!Ms. Mann's narrative is detailed enough to put the reader in to the story as a character, yet not so much, that the story gets bogged down. The storyline is fluid; it doesn't concentrate on the H/H only, secondary characters are given enough time and space to become likeable and/or understandable. Even the "bad guys" were written to have feelings; resulting in a better understanding of their motivation, etc.The topics were relevant in today's world, and her plot was imaginative and engrossing. The only criticism I'd give here, is that the traitorous angle of the drama wasn't more detailed/highlighted. The other criticism would be the lack of wrap-up on some minor characters and storylines. Albeit, having everything tied up by the end of the book, does not lend a sense of realism to a story.All-in-all this was a very satisfying read.

I don't think this author is for me. I know a lot of people like her and that's great, but I just didn't really connect with the 2 books I've tried. I thought the plot of this one was a bit too silly - I got about 1/3-1/2 way in and decided to stop.Others however, really like this author and this book, so no need to take my word for it necessarily.

In this book we meet Wade "Brick" Rocha as he and his team of pararescuemen are on a training mission. All big, strong and handsome they are the elite of the elite of the Armed Services going into extreme situations to rescue servicepeople and civilians alike when they are in dire situations. As soon as they finish their training they learn of a group of hikers lost in a blizzard in the Aleutian Islands; are they ready to rescue? Of course they are!Wade lands just in time to find Sunny Foster and her dog, Chewie. What he doesn't know is that Sunny is not part of the group that needs saving. She is a well trained tracker and very capable of taking care of herself. But when they find two dead bodies and a crazy sheriff's deputy starts shooting at them they need to come together to discover what is going on.This was a fast read, definitely a good beach read. It didn't require a lot of hard thinking but sometimes that makes for a perfect book. Sunny lives in an off the grid community that doesn't allow anyone to come back if they leave. Her family moved there because her brother Phoenix deserted the Army. While Phoenix is seemingly an integral part of the book we hardly meet him or know what led him to desert. He is like a hanging thread throughout the book that needs to be dealt with but is just left hanging. This was very frustrating.Sunny and Wade have a case of lust at first sight that slowly builds to love. But Sunny is suspicious of strangers and Wade is deploying to Afghanistan very soon. They work together to find out who is threatening Sunny's community and a power plant in Alaska. The author does an excellent job of creating mood and placing you in the Alaskan wilderness. The characters are not as well defined but all in all a decent escapist suspense/romance.

Cover Me by Catherine Mann is a military romantic suspense novel about an elite rescue team called the Pararescueman Team. The first book in the series's cast include Sunny Foster and her dog Chewie, who are both in need of rescuing, even though she claims she doesn't need to be rescued, that is until she gets shot at and Wade Rocha, a pararescueman who rescues them from a mountain in Alaska. The story basically takes place in the Aleutian Islands where there is a small community that has closed itself off from the rest of the world. When a person leaves this community they are no longer allowed to go back Sunny and her sister Misty are a part of this community. Sunny has secrets, that if they got out it would ultimately destroy this community, while Wade has secrets of his own that he is trying to deal with. The story quickly turns into a murder mystery as bodies are found buried in the ice on the mountain. A side story is of Sunny's sister Misty who wants to leave the community to have surgery to restore her hearing, that was lost because of an illness. There is a host of bad guys and good guys to make the story interesting and lots of steamy sex scenes. I enjoyed the story and it was interesting learning about the Pararescueman team. I give this book 4 stars, the writing will pull you right into the story and the love scenes...well you will have to read it!!!

I have to say, I love that the series is about PJ's. I think they're amazing.

Anyway, aside from that, I can't say much good about the story between Wade and Sunny. She drove me absolutely insane. CRAZY INSANE. I wanted to push her off a cliff. Wade's perfectness didn't bother me, but I do think he put up with way too much from Sunny.

Flynn was a more rounded character. I really fell into the parts with Misty, but I was impatient and skimming through the parts with Sunny and Wade. I wish it had been written the other way around - with Misty and Flynn getting more of the page time.

I would be willing to try another story by her.
