Duncan Macneill has come to the Island to find the man who stole his people's fortune, bring the man to justice and return home. Duncan doesn't want to let anything get in way of his goal...until he meets an American she wolf who tempts him with pleasure. Duncan can't seem to resist her beauty or enchanting personality that ties him up in knots. Shelley, is a professor and has come to the island to do some research on the forests and the plants there. When she runs into Duncan, a sexy highlander and a tempting wolf, she knows she is in trouble. Her family has despised highlanders since centuries ago they were kicked off their land, and now reside in Texas. When circumstances force her to become roommate with Duncan, she knows she won't be able to resist him for long. As Shelley pursues a intimate relationship, she finds herself wanting more than just a casual relationship, she wants Duncan for life as her mate. But when danger comes lurking about, and threatens them both, it will take Duncan and Shelley working together to defeat the enemy that is trying to wipe them out. When I first started this series, I just fell madly in love with it. There is just something so irresistable about wolf shifters plus add sizzling romance, and you will have me hooked for life. I always know that when I pick up Terry Spear that I will just love her stories from the first moment. As I have read more and more books from this series, I have just come to see that the books just keep getting better and better. And anyone who knows me, and well, knows that when you mix sexy highlanders with wolf shifters----you know I won't be able to resist reading it for anything. So when I saw this book on the library shelf, which is only a couple months old, I snatched it up before anyone else could. LOL The story picks up within the first few pages of Duncan and Shelley seeing each other at the airport for the first time on the island. Then Duncan being the highland wolf that he is who can't resist a beautiful face, is intrigued by Shelley and he can't seem to resist her. Even though throughout the story we see Duncan's determination to return the money that belongs to his clan, he also doesn't want to give Shelley up. I found their romance to flow pretty easily, and it wasn't too quick or too slow, it felt perfectly right. There were quite a few of some fun scenes in the water, where I WISH I could have traded places with Shelley in a heartbeat. There was also a medium sized conflict that turns into a bigger one, but I felt like it maintained a balance with the rest of the story. There was also such a steamy chemistry between Shelley and Duncan. Such an intriguing plot that was formed, and I felt like it was a easy to get into it, and didn't have any major con's that would keep me from reading and enjoying it.For sure to put this on the Keeper Shelf!!! I can't wait for the next one in the series, and I do hope this author does the other brothers too--they are just too yummy not to!! :) UTTERLY SATISFYING!!

'he'd been bested by a she-wolf and one flowery suitcase'Another werewolf novel dealing with the highlander branch of wolves met in Heart of the Highland Wolf. Journeying to the Cayman Islands when tracking the family's stolen money, Duncan McNeil meets up with Shelley, a female from an unaligned family. Of course the sparks fly, furniture breaks, tussles ensue and the attraction is strong. After all dominance and Royals goes hand in hand. And Shelley does need rescuing by this Highland warrior. Although she is the independent type. Shelley is a Botany Professor. Her deeper research is focused towards finding a plant that might help non royal werewolves fight the change or to be able to shift when they need to.Sadly, taking the warrior wolf out of the Highlands just didn't work for me. Yes, the storyline is good, and yes I liked the main characters and the twist is interesting. I just prefer my highlander wolf 'in situ',striding out across those rugged mountains, fording raging streams etc. etc. I just wasn't as captivated as I have been by the rest of the series.A NetGalley ARC

When money is stolen from the clan, Duncan MacNeill travels to the Cayman Islands to recover it and deal with thief, Silverman. On his arrival he meets tempting she-wolf Shelly Campbell. He is determined not to be distracted, especially not by Shelly, but fate has other plans for both of them. I loved this latest addition in the Heart of the Wolf series. Spear's Alphas are always fun to read about, but her Highlanders I do love the most. I mean really what is not to like - werewolf highlander in a kilt with oh so sexy accents. A Howl for a Highland was a fantastic read with adventure and steamy scenes to keep you turning the page. The desire and temptation between the unmated couple Duncan and Shelly were delicious. I look forward to reading more of Highlanders in this series.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:*eARC received from NetGalleyTerry Spear has a very good thing going with her HEART OF THE WOLF series and my favorites so far have had to do with those sexy highland wolves...This one had a cool concept. I liked the set up, I loved the way that she overlapped the stories to create cohesion between the characters, and there were just enough surprises.Shelley is a professor of botany and on a research trip to the Cayman Islands. She locks eyes with a sexy Scottish wolf in the airport and there's instant chemistry. Duncan is younger brother to the Laird of MacNeil castle. He's in Grand Cayman trying to track down a con artist wolf that has utterly and completely ripped of his pack and family, not to mention countless others. Once he spies the sexy redhead in the airport he has trouble thinking of much else.Fate and circumstances push the two together and they end up as roomates and partners in trying to take down the sleezy, slimy con man. While neither planed for it, they can't escape their attraction and one thing leads to another; their mission, families, and others' expectations be damned.A Howl for the Highlander was another super sexy 4 Skull highland wolf read from Terry Spear and I enjoyed it a lotThere was something about it that wouldn't allow me to give it a higher rating though. I think it was the all-of-a-sudden abruptness to the culmination of Shelley and Duncan's relationship. It was going along great, plenty of sexual tension, lots of action, the story led well to their relationship progressing, etc, and then all of a sudden they were just 'together'. It was still good, but it reminded a lot me of how I feel when I read PNR Novellas; like they're just not long enough to hold the full story and feel like they're rushed. This wasn't on that level, but it was the same type of feeling. I might have been able to give this 5 skulls if it were a bit longer and drawn out just a tad more...

Reviewed by: CrystalBook provided by: NetGalleyReview originally posted at Romancing the BookI love paranormal and highlanders… so the combination made me pick up this book. I also loved the cover of the book. I enjoyed the colors and it was very pleasing on the eye.It took me a little bit to get into the book. It just started off a little slow and seemed that there was just a little too much info. Once I got past the first the first couple of chapters and the story line started picking up, I started to get into the story. I love the thought of a werewolf and having their own rules. I always wondered how they took care of werewolves that had done wrong and was just bad. I understood better after reading this book. This is the first book I have read from this author and I’m glad that I took the chance to read it. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline was good. I also loved the thought of a highlander that was a wolf. You know that has to be one sexy man walking around. You can just imagine Duncan strutting around and daring anyone to take one wrong move.I enjoyed watching Duncan and Shelley interact with each other. You know that sparks will fly when you get an alpha male and a woman who is used to doing things for herself and taking action without having to deal with a man who is used to being a boss. The sex between them was really hot and I just love when two werewolves get together and you don’t have a lot of beating around the bush about the others feelings. This book isn’t just about wolves and finding your mate and sex. It’s about a bad wolf who tries to take money away from a clan and not wanting to deal with his actions. It has some suspenseful moments in the book and that gives it great action. I love books that have a great storyline like this book did. I just want to say that even though it did start off a little slow for me and it took a couple of chapters for me to get into it, I am happy I worked through it because I would’ve missed a really great book if I hadn’t.So I recommend this book to anyone who loves highlanders and wolves. Loves a woman that takes care of herself and a man that will do anything for the woman that he loves.

Whenever you start a book by Terry Spear you never have to worry if you will enjoy it or not. The only thing you have to worry about is whether or not you have enough uninterrupted time to read her wonderful story straight through. You see I didn’t think about that when I started reading ‘A Howl for a Highlander’. I ended up staying up until 3:00 in the morning lost in this fascinating and romantic world of wolf shifters. Was it worth being tired and dragged out the next day? YES!Duncan MacNeill is sent by his clan to an island paradise in order to recover the millions that was stolen from them While at the airport he smells an unaccompanied female shifter. Being the gentleman he is he offers to help her get to where she is staying. Duncan can’t afford to be distracted from his mission but Shelley is so… interesting…Shelley knows she cannot get in a relationship with a male shifter because that only leads to being permanently mated. When she attracts the eye of the man who not only stole the MacNeill money but the grant money from her college as well, things become dangerous in this beautiful paradise getaway. While this book could totally be read as a standalone book I have to recommend that you read the rest of the series as well. While you are at it go ahead and read any book you can find that Ms. Spear has written. Her books are the perfect little getaways and you will be so happy you did!
