En 2022, profesor invitado en la Universidad de Tokio e investigador visitante en importantes universidades y museos, como el Museo delle Civiltà, Roma (2017), Field Museum, Chicago (2015), Musée du quai Branly, París (2010), entre otros. Investigó el regreso de los trabajadores migrantes a un pequeño pueblo en el centro de Sicilia (MA Universidad de Münster, 1986), y continuó su trabajo sobre inmigrantes italianos en Argentina (PhD Escuela de Economía de Londres, 1992). Además, indagó en la apropiación de las culturas indígenas entre artistas contemporáneos en Argentina. Coorganizó la conferencia internacional “Fieldworks: Dialogues between Art and Anthropology”, en la Tate Modern, 2003, en la confluencia entre el arte contemporáneo y la etnografía. Ha escrito sobre arte contemporáneo y antropología, migración y cine: Expanded Visions: A New Anthropology of the Moving Image, Routledge, 2021; Appropriation as Practice: Art and Identity in Argentina, Palgrave, 2006; Futures Lost: Nostalgia and Identity among Italian Immigrants in Argentina, Peter Lang, 2000. Como editor ha publicado Alternative Art and Anthropology: Global Encounters, Bloomsbury, 2017; junto con Caterina Pasqualino: Experimental film and Anthropology, Bloomsbury, 2014; con Chris Wright: Contemporary Art and Anthropology, Berg, 2006; Between Art and Anthropology, Berg, 2010; y Anthropology and Art Practice, Bloomsbury, 2013. Investigador principal (PI) de TRACES (Transmitting Conflictious Cultural Heritages with the Arts: From Intervention to Co-production), Programa Horizon 2020, Unión Europea; de esta investigación, surgió la edición de su libro Art, Anthropology and Contested Heritage, Bloomsbury, 2019.view less
