She is also a former athlete who specializes in understanding the link between physical exercise and prevention of neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Bergersen has pioneered the study of how exercise can improve brain health and has expanded from there into further aging fields. She has received a number of awards and fellowships for her research and is also co-founder of the Norwegian Centre for Healthy Ageing (NO-Age).view less
