He is the author of several highly acclaimed books on the history of the twentieth century, including The Bomb: A Life, which won the RUSI Westminster Medal, awarded in Britain to the best book published in the English language on a war or military topic. He is a regular contributor to a wide range of newpapers and journals. He lives in Scotland with his family.view less
