She attended South Carolina State University where she received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She has a dual degree in Human Resources and HR Management from Webster University. She also earned an Education Specialist degree from Cambridge College. She frequents Winthrop University as she continues to be a life-long learner. Takela has taught in North and South Carolina. She is currently an Assistant Principal in Rock Hill Schools in Rock Hill, SC. She enjoys working with children and motivating them to do their best as she was motivated by her church, school and community in Clover as a child. Takela resides in Clover, SC with her very supportive and loving husband, Dwight Burns and her two articulate children Dwight Jr., 10 and Nadia, 6. They inspire her each day.
