My mom stayed home, cooked, cleaned, washed clothes, and took care of us kids. My dad was a carpenter and built sixty-three houses and also worked in a factory. Both of my parents worked hard and loved us four kids very much.
When I was young, there really were not too many types of scheduled activities for children like there are today. So much of my time was spent in the woods around our home. I loved the different kinds of birds and little animals that lived there. There would be rabbits hopping, squirrels that scurried up and down the trees, and of course, an occasional raccoon would lumber by. There was a small creek close by that educated me on tadpoles, frogs, moss on rock, and then there were gardener/garter snakes. To this day, I still do not know what to call them.
Time passed, and we averaged a new house every seven years. Dad said this way he would be able to truthfully tell people about different types of heating, plumbing, siding, and shingles when they wanted a house built. I learned early truth is important in life. I had a friend who I met when I was five and later married when I turned twenty-one.
Now that I am retired from nursing and the kids are grown, I have time for a little dream I once had. So Eddie is finally born. I named him after my youngest brother. He is the nicest person you would ever meet. He reminds me of an elf at times because of his generosity and kind spirit.
That about does it about me. I hope you enjoy reading Eddie’s adventures as much as I have writing them.
