I love words (always have done) and especially love manipulating them to convey a message. After obtaining English qualifications, people I knew would often ask me to write them a little ditty or rhyme, whether for a birthday, a promotion, a wedding anniversary or even marriage proposals. I would compose a little poem consisting of several verses and word spread among friends and family. One day, a colleague suggested I turn this hobby into more of a business, so I set up my own poem writing service website.
After several successful years of doing this and becoming a family man, I became disenchanted with the abundance of poor, printed children’s literature on the market. Some being poorly punctuated or badly drawn was one thing, but being unimaginatively written was unforgivable. So I decided that I could write my own such books as I would have my children read them.
In this instance, Bible Legends Told in Rhyme allows kids to understand some of the stories in the Bible, which may otherwise be beyond their comprehension or attention span. This is an alternative Bible stories book series which is child-friendly but does not infantilise the reader, and stays faithful to established anecdotal facts. Too many kids’ Bible paraphernalia is watered down, and so the essence of the moral is lost. It was my attendance at primary school and regular Sunday school which piqued my interest in the fascinating stories from the Bible. To this day, those wonderful stories stay with me. Now I share them with you, along with my own, added twist.
My own children continue to be an inspiration for me to continue down this path: when your child asks when your next book will be printed for them to read, it does not get much better than that.
