He is also an advisory board member of the Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In addition, he is a senior trustee of Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and a selection committee member of its Posey Leadership Award-Global Outreach Forum.
