Matt is committed to inspiring young adults to celebrate what makes them unique and how sharing their virtues will add value and inspire growth within communities. He is a relevant leader who is able to connect from the stage and instigate a meaningful conversation with his audience that fosters a community of inclusion and acceptance.
Effective presenters are able to understand and relate to their audience; Matt Hockney can relate better than most as he has overcome being both a bully and a victim. Most victims of bullying escape the concrete jungles that many high school campuses have become only to never to look back, in hopes of suppressing those deep and painful memories. Matt Hockney has decided that enough is enough and it is time for a relevant voice to stand up and commit their virtues to cultivate tolerance and celebrate diversity.
This work is extremely personal to Matt and allows him to inspire others through sharing his own experiences. Bullying is a complex and convoluted issue, and there are always multiple victims. Research shows that effects from bullying during a person’s adolescent years will have a dramatic impact on mental health later in life. Matt has studied these issues thoroughly, but more importantly, he has lived it. His passion for eradicating bullying on school campuses and his critical thinking program entitled “Stand up, Stand Out, Be Outstanding” has garnered him national attention. He has a positive and contagious personality, and students immediately connect with his candid yet enthusiastic style. Matt’s background as an Eagle Scout has instilled in him a philosophy of always being prepared. Hugh O’Brian, TV personality and founder of HOBY, personally encouraged Matt to share his message with as many schools as possible. Now Matt has started sharing his message with students around the country with tremendous success. Collaborating with Matt will prepare your students to recognize, communicate, and stand up against exclusion.
