University education was too expensive for most families and not many girls went as we were expected to marry, and have lots of babies. It was an amazing time to be young, with so much wonderful music and the emerging social and sexual revolution. However, we were sadly lacking in education and contraception. I eventually married and we moved to Australia. For the next few years we moved around and I nursed part time while rearing our two sons. In 1993 I left nursing and we moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast and I worked for the next 18 years for a community organisation. We now live in a lovely rural area with our three rescue dogs, two old cockatoos a galah and a variety of breeds of chooks. We also have a couple of carpet pythons around who keep the rat and mice population under control. We are lucky to have an excellent U3A organisation on the coast and I attend a writing group where we learn the basics of writing, editing, and publishing. Writing is an amazing hobby and I have met some great people who have some very interesting stories to tell.view less
