Not content to lead the “normal” life his parents desired for him, he made his mark along highways and back roads managing to meet many different sorts of people while partaking in a few adventures he could later write about.
His experiences as an over-the-road trucker, security officer, private investigator, freight handler, farm worker, foundry worker, cannery worker, auto body repairman, carpet layer, ambulance driver, gas station attendant, tow truck operator; ad infinitum, have served him well in providing endless fodder for his writing gristmill.
Physically limited in later life, Bill was deeply influenced by the autobiography of Frank (Spig) Wead, a navy pilot who was severely injured in a plane crash. Even though he was partially paralyzed and needed assistance in walking, he became a well known author of many short stories and screenplays. He was not held back by his disability. Bill decided he could do the same. He didn’t need to be strong or athletic to write.
Bill and his wife Barb have lived in Iowa and Minnesota, and currently reside in Dayton, Ohio with their three cats.view less
