Prior to joining ICMA in 2009, he had held several positions in Arlington, Virginia, including county manager, director of health and human services, director of parks and recreation, and director of information services. Prior to that, he was assistant to the mayor in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Carlee is on the faculty of the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at the George Washington University, and he is a Fellow in the National Academy for Public Administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo, a master’s degree from the University of Alabama, and doctorate in public administration from George Mason University. Carlee currently serves as the city manager of Charlotte, North Carolina.view less
