Aliar Hossain was born in Bangladesh in Narayanganj, a city known as the Dandy of the East. He is the youngest son of the late Ali Hossain and comes from a family with a deep commitment to community, religion, politics, and business (i.e., family owned or managed local mosque, charitable dispensary, medical services, and education institutions). Aliar was strongly influenced by a commitment to continuing his family’s traditions from his childhood.
Aliar’s mission is to raise public awareness for the fair politics and governance, fight against corruption, the concept of global citizenship, importance of doing business ethically, and the significance of sustainable development in the global village. He is currently undertaking PhD research with Cardiff School of Management. He is also acting as MBA supervisor and visiting lecturer for a number of UK business schools. He has visited numerous UK and Asian universities and colleges as speaker for change management, CSR, leadership development, corporate culture, globalization, and sustainable development issues.
His first book was published in 2011 (Sustainable Development Handbook: A South Asian Perspective). Some other published papers include “Changing Markets: The Future for Higher Education in a Globalised World” (LSBM, 2012), “Strategic and Pragmatic E-Business” (IGI Global, 2012), “Impact of Micro Finance” (Digibiz, 2009), “Information Security and Threats: E-Commerce Banking” (both International Conference on Security and Management, USA, 2009).
He has also professional and academic membership with a number of organizations both in the UK and abroad (Institute of Consulting, Regents Business Forum, Royal Institute of International Affairs, International Journal of Contemporary Research in Management and Social Sciences, and many more).
He is the founder and director of Regents Consulting Services Ltd., which works to enable corporate social responsibility, political training, and sustainable development through consultation and improved management strategies, involving corporate and executive training and visits to business schools in the UK and abroad. Aliar funds and manages Seed of Possibilities, a social and economic development not-for-profit project providing grants and consultation for poor people in the South Asian region, improving their living standards with sustainable business ideas, funding and long-term professional support.
Mark T. Jones
Mark is a fervent internationalist who is widely traveled. In the year 2000, he initiated and oversaw a major humanitarian venture into war-torn Sierra Leone and then spent two years in the Middle East where he worked in Jordan (2002–2004). An orator of distinction, he is the author of several books and numerous articles and in 2009 produced a forward strategy for the sericulture sector in Bangladesh entitled Rajshahi: the Silk Sensation. Mark trains legislative leaders and is an adviser on trade and investment in Africa’s frontier markets. Mark believes that many of the current economic and geopolitical difficulties in the world are the result of a combination of a poverty of leadership, poor regional/market knowledge, and a lack of strategic vision.view less
