About this audiobook

Unforgettable, snarky, and romantic, I Hope This Doesn't Find You is Never Have I Ever meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before if Lara Jean wrote hate emails instead of love letters.

Sadie Wen is perfect on paper: school captain, valedictorian, and a "pleasure to have in class." It's not easy, but she has a trick to keep her model-student smile plastered on her face at all times: she channels all her frustrations into her email drafts. She'd never send them of course -- she'd rather die than hurt anyone's feelings -- but it's a relief to let loose on her power-hungry English teacher or a freeloading classmate taking credit for Sadie's work.

All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at her infuriating cocaptain, Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. "You're attention starved and self-obsessed and unbearably vain . . . I really hope your comb breaks and you run out of whatever expensive hair products you've been using to make your hair appear deceptively soft . . ."

Sadie doesn't have to hold back in her emails, because nobody will ever read them . . . that is, until they're accidentally sent out.

Overnight, Sadie's carefully crafted, conflict-free life is turned upside down. It's her worst nightmare -- now everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they're not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either. But amidst the chaos, there's one person growing to appreciate the "real" Sadie -- Julius, the only boy she's sworn to hate . . . .

Editor's Note

Charming rivals-to-lovers story…

Sadie Wen works hard to be the perfect student, peer, and daughter, but the charade crumbles when her vitriolic email drafts to classmates and teachers — never meant to be sent — are leaked to the entire school. Sadie makes amends by playing nice with her arrogant rival, Julius, and is surprised when their forced proximity sparks newfound closeness. This charming story is more than a rivals-to-lovers rom-com: It’s a lesson on self-acceptance for people pleasers everywhere.

This was the sweetest enemies to lovers rom-com. I loved the prep school setting and two over achievers challenging and subtly teaching each other a thing or two along the way. Perfect school year read!

Sadie is a people-pleaser who blows steam by writing *very* strongly worded emails. One day, most of those emails are sent. Notably, 37 of them are adressed to her nemesis, her rival, her archenemy, the cocaptain of the school, Julius. Very cute and sweet but also very funny. I really liked the narration as well.

I think this book rates at about a 3.8 for me. I would like to start off by saying I am not romance novel lover as it is and would rate majority of the romance books I’ve listen to or read lower than this. I am a huge fan of kdramas and love c dramas as well which is was initially intrigued me about this book. I love thick plots, well written characters and feeling like I am truly immersed into the characters’ would when reading any book.

The story itself is cute which is why I rated it on the higher side. I actually like the concept of the novel very much but felt it was more a rough outline of what the actual story could be. The characters were interesting but I didn’t feel like you had enough time to truly become invested in any of them or care about them. It made the romance feel a bit weak for me. I enjoyed the female and male lead but they both felt underdeveloped. I feel like the ML had so much more potential than how he’s written. The FL was actually written quite well but again I felt like the novel needed to be longer and have more going on for me to really become invested in her. Going into the novel I did have a decent basis as to what to expect since I familiar with culture from binging so many dramas but I also felt like that may have been the reason why I had higher expectations for the plot.
I really enjoyed the innocence of the characters and the novel’s slice of life feel but it just felt like a draft the entire time I was reading it. Like the writer had come up with the main bullet points of each section of the essay but forgot to add in the meat and the voice that takes a good outline into a beautifully written essay.
I am not sure if maybe it’s high school basis just was too young for me (29) but I honestly usually enjoy this theme in dramas so I’m not sure what it was about this that didn’t work. I would read another novel by the author for sure. I think that she definitely has potential and maybe this particular book is just too simple for me.
If you enjoy high school novels and appreciate a good clean theme with very little drama you may really like this. It’s a feel good with a simple theme and FL who does show some character growth (however it is very vanilla in growth nothing too serious happens). It’s gentle, soft and will not make you feel anything too deep. It’s just a sweet little surface level novel and I think a great listen when life is feeling a little too heavy or overwhelming. If you’re looking for a true romance with any kind of passion though this is probably not the book to read.

I like it. I don’t love it but I think the author does have a unique voice I’d be interested in following her progression!

I thought at first that is was sweet, but it is also full of toxic teenagers. True, most teens are evil, but damn! I would not like the teens in my life to read this and think this is ok. However, i saw most of this thing totally accurate.

Cute story, I needed a bit more at the end. Would have been intressting to also know more about the main lead. But yeah, it's a nice short book that is a fun, easy read.

I wish i dont have to rate it so i can post my reviwe. I think i outgrow YA romance, so my rating would be unfair.

The book was ... average. I started listing cuz i wanted somthing light to go into and the story seemed intersting. The charecters were okay. Most things were predictable.
My 17/16 self would like this. But not me now.

What did I just read. That was absolute trash. I’m not even sure why I finished this book, but you can be sure I’ll never read it again.

I don’t typically gravitate toward YA romance, but I’m so glad I made an exception for this one! I’m a total sucker for the accidental sent letters trope, and this book did not disappoint.

I loved seeing Sadie grow through this book. Her embarrassments, her frustrations, her wins, her friendships - I found myself rooting for her through them all. In the end, she was a girl who perfectly encapsulates so many of us when we were teenagers. It invoked a nostalgia I wasn’t expecting going in but was glad to embrace.

If you’ve ever been a people pleaser or over competitive or even just a teenage girl, I’d absolutely recommend this book to you.

4.75, I love it so much. Like I didn't expect for it to top Ann Liang's other books but it somehow did. Rival's to lover's is my fav and I like how it felt completely different from her debut novel even though the trope and the characters had lots of similarities. They don't register the same to me, I really think of them as separate beings and characters. All I wished for was more of the side characters I guess since this book is extremely focused on Sadie and Julius. Also the fact that we didn't get more depth into Sadie's daddy issues and Julius' life is actually kind of disappointing though I understand why in a way since Sadie seems to have slowly moved past it and I'm guessing they didn't want it to get dark with the elaboration between him and his brother's issues, though it's cliche enough for the readers to understand the indications. Still wished to see more of their outward lives though but I still loved it so much.

I enjoyed the book as a whole, but it was very infuriating at times, because I had the feeling that Sadie and Julius would constantly miss opportunities to “catch up with each other “ and sometimes shut themselves without reason.
Throughout the book I doubted that the conclusion would be drawn seamlessly, how to explain why *the certain person* send those emails, but I was pleasantly surprised- it fitted the story
All in all I’d rate it with 3,6 stars
