About this audiobook

Beautiful Creatures: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! *
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. I enjoyed this rereading, as there were many things I didn't remember; however, although I liked the story, the characters stressed me out a bit. (Translated from Spanish)

I read this novel in my early years as a reader, when I forced myself to finish the book no matter how boring it was. In one word: masochism. (Translated from Spanish)

Nine years ago, I read this book for the first time, and this year I decided to reread it so I could read the entire saga since I had yet to read the last one. I've had this book since it was released, and I never opened it because I knew I was missing one from the saga; I thought it was the penultimate book, but it turned out to be the second. Anyway, those are other topics.
As for Beautiful Creatures, I had forgotten a large part of the plot, except for a few important details. It's evident that it's a book from the last decade because of the aesthetics of some characters and certain clichés that were in vogue back then. Thank God it's not so severe (at least for me) that it becomes unbearable to read.
Regarding the characters, I hope that as I progress through the saga, we learn more about them and come to know them deeply because I feel that we still don’t really know who they are.
I also hope that the questions and arcs that were left open are resolved, but since I don’t remember much about the other books, I am completely blank.
So far, it has me hooked; I don’t know if that will change as I read through the books, but honestly, I hope it doesn’t. This saga has potential; I don’t think it will become one of my favorites, but at least I hope it won’t go unnoticed, and that I will remember it. (Translated from Spanish)

A while ago I read that this would be like another version of Twilight, because of how tedious the book can be. I don't know why I haven't read Twilight, but Beautiful Creatures entertained me; I like it because it's narrated from Ethan's point of view, and it has its funny moments. But it's not the best of the saga; it moves too slowly, but I like that magical touch. (Translated from Spanish)

One of the things I like the most is that it is not the protagonist who tells the story. Instead, it's him. An ordinary boy dealing with everything magical, who is not an incredible being and is simply trying to help.

It's a really good change from everything I've read. (Translated from Spanish)

Maybe I expected too much from it since I started it when I was 15 and couldn't finish it. Now I feel it's very slow, the movie doesn't match the book at all, and in that sense, the book is better, but its magical world seems very empty to me; many details are missing, such as the lineage of Uncle Macon. I'm not sure, but I'll read the second book out of curiosity :) I like it, but not as much as I would have hoped. (Translated from Spanish)

A dose of magic and fantasy. Beautiful Creatures is a book that grabs your attention at the beginning but becomes a bit monotonous as you progress. Nevertheless, it is a book that brings freshness and originality. (Translated from Spanish)

Well, I must admit that at first the book develops at a rather slow pace to the point of becoming tedious at times; however, as you delve into the story and this wonderful world of powerful beings with superhuman abilities, you reach a point where you can't put it down, and you just want to know what will happen next. The ending leaves you with that desire to know what comes next that only a good ending can leave you with, and I can only say that I am definitely going to continue with the rest of the books in this saga, which I hope will be just as good or better than this initial book. It is one of the books that I had on my to-read list for many years, roughly since the movie came out (which I had already seen but didn't remember, so it's as if I hadn't seen it).

The authors have a talent for storytelling, for describing each place, for teleporting the reader to Gatlin. This first encounter with these authors has been "pleasurable," and I can't wait to find out what happens to Lena and Ethan. (Translated from Spanish)

It's an incredible book, as the characters have unique traits, and on every page, you can expect something new. The clarity of the words makes you feel like a participant in the scene, and you discern the emotions and feelings so much that you develop a unique empathy. Beautiful Creatures is not just a book; it's a promise, a lesson, and a desire that perhaps we are not just mere mortals. As Macon said, "humans are beautiful creatures," and without the need for powers, we can change, choose, believe, and love—something that stands out in this work on several occasions. The book is not bad, but honestly, from the halfway point onwards, it starts with the magic and all the darkness of this world. The first part felt very slow and overly introductory; I got lost a few times with the plot and the story in general.

Still, it didn't stop entertaining me and made me imagine this new world with witches and the explanation behind their magic. I might reread it to start the next one, but I would like to have the second one in physical form. (Translated from Spanish)

It was a book that made me fall in love, and overall, the whole saga is very magical and mysterious, and you can see the evolution of the characters. In fact, the third one made me cry, although the second, Beautiful Darkness, wasn’t as easy to read or as good as the others. (Translated from Spanish)

The truth is that the novel did not disappoint me at all, filled with mystery, supernatural powers, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness, taken to another level by the caster Lena. Destined to make a choice that will forever change the future of one part of her family. Specifically in this novel, there are several characters that I find not appealing at all, but it compensates with characters as charismatic as Amma can be. (Translated from Spanish)

I must admit that its characters are the typical ones found in any novel; it's a book with a story that is too slow and sometimes becomes very tedious over time. A story that is not so original but still attracts a lot of attention due to the peculiarities of each character. It's a book that really becomes very slow the more you read. A very difficult book that can even make you sleepy. (Translated from Spanish)

I got to know the Beautiful Creatures saga through its movie, which I had fallen in love with. After watching it, I thought about reading the books, so I started them at the time. The reading of this book didn't seem very fluid, nor did it make me want to continue reading. The book itself is good with a good theme, but in some parts, it's difficult to read (also because of its font) and there are parts where I got stuck and couldn't go on. (Translated from Spanish)

I don't know why it makes me a little sleepy when I read it, it's good, it's interesting, but it doesn't completely captivate you and make you want to keep reading every minute. I feel like sometimes it provides too many details, and because of that, it loses the flow of the reading or something like that, but overall I liked it.

So let's go for the second part!! (Translated from Spanish)
