I really enjoyed this bookshot. I found it to be a very unique story line. Of course, I love the characters as I am a huge fan of the Women's Murder Club series (and the author). I was surprised at the answer to the mystery. It wasn't quite what I expected and it was well written.

A quick murder club mystery. Enjoyable but not too different from the others.

This is a Bookshot of The Women's Murder Club series, and it was terrible! The writing is awful, I felt it was so poorly written. The first "murder" victim is cold and unemotional, yet she is suddenly friends with the group? It doesn't make sense. Also, the murderer too easily confessed. It seemed as if the author realized they had to wrap up the book to keep it under 150 pages, so the finish was rushed. Very disappointing.

Chief medical examiner Claire Washburn is preparing for the day’s autopsies when she discovers a woman, pronounced dead and brought to the morgue, is actually alive. Thus begins an intriguing case for the members of the Women’s Murder Club, one in which nothing seems to make much sense, and yet, somehow, small pieces keep falling into place. Lindsay is away with Joe enjoying a well-deserved week’s vacation, leaving Rich to investigate the circumstances that brought Joan Murphy to the morgue when she was, in fact, not yet dead.

Joan claims to remember nothing, not even how she suffered the gunshot wound in her shoulder. But her diamond jewelry is missing. Is this a simple robbery, or is something far more sinister behind this twisted case?

Character development is minimal since the characters, already well-developed in a series of full-length novels, are familiar to readers of the series. Like other stories in the BookShots series, the narrative races along, the plot twisting and turning as the mystery unfolds. It’s a quick read, as are all BookShots, but this enjoyable short story should please fans of the Women’s Murder Club series or, perhaps, serve as an intriguing introduction to the series.

    Recommended.
