About this audiobook

Glenn Beck, the New York Times bestselling author of The Great Reset presents history as it's supposed to be told: true and thrilling.

History is about so much more than memorizing facts. It is, as more than half of the word suggests, about the story. And, told in the right way, it is the greatest one ever written: Good and evil, triumph and tragedy, despicable acts of barbarism and courageous acts of heroism.

The things you’ve never learned about our past will shock you. The reason why gun control is so important to government elites can be found in a story about Athens that no one dares teach. Not the city in ancient Greece, but the one in 1946 Tennessee. The power of an individual who trusts his gut can be found in the story of the man who stopped the twentieth hijacker from being part of 9/11. And a lesson on what happens when an all-powerful president is in need of positive headlines is revealed in a story about eight saboteurs who invaded America during World War II.

Miracles and Massacres is history as you’ve never heard it told. It’s incredible events that you never knew existed. And it’s stories so important and relevant to today that you won’t have to ask, Why didn’t they teach me this? You will instantly know. If the truth shall set you free, then your freedom begins on page one of this book. By the end, your understanding of the lies and half-truths you’ve been taught may change, but your perception of who we are as Americans and where our country is headed definitely will.

Great book for the untold parts of history even though some we know about but it is a deeper dive into our history.

This is a great book. It teaches us to question everything and everyone. Especially our leaders and the media. Some stories may be very angry, some moved me to tears. Definitely worth a read.

Relates some historical accounts of events in American history. I enjoyed learning about some things I didn't know before - like what the "shores of Tripoli" reference is in the official song of the Marines. The stories were told well, though I would take them as an interpretation of the facts and not thoroughly accurate in every word. It kept my interest, but I wasn't totally engrossed in it. It's good for a quick listen to become acquainted with or rediscover some events from American history.

I learned a lot in this book and it was entertaining, which is what the author was going for. It was a quick read and I really did like it. Perfect for history lovers and goes all the way up to almost present day. 4.5 out of 5 stars, I would recommend it. Even if you'll like some stories better than others.

This publication is well written and researched of twelve historical events told in a narrative format. It is a very easy read and will grasp the attention of a young adult. The author brings history alive with this form. He does add actions and words that may not have taken place but do not affect the historical facts yet follow the particular individuals documented beliefs and actions. More than a book for rote memorization of who, when and where; but also how and why. The way your favorite history teacher of the past use to bring history alive for you so you actually learned from what you were studying beyond the cold facts. Only reason I did not give this five stars is I like my history to be all facts even if it may make the reading of it dry to some.

Until this book, I'd never heard of Glenn Beck. After some research, I found him to be a radio entertainer. He has written some US history in an understandable form--he tells twelve stories of historical events in America. Most will be unknown to the vast majority of Americans. All of the stories are entertaining and worth reading and actually happened, but one must wonder if all the facts are true. One evaluator quibbles with the author's comments about the number of Medals of Honor awarded at Wounded Knee, for example. Beck piqued my interest enough to further research the stories I'd never heard. Isn't that a good testimony for a teaching book?
