Though dated, I very much enjoyed Ray Kroc's journey to found McDonald's. Unlike the other business books I've been reading lately this biography was very refreshing and I found Ray Kroc to be a respectable, sympathetic person who isn't unreflective and opened up very personal, too.1 person found this helpful

This is a first class, founder narrated, pov story of one of the worlds greatest brands. You'll see that the voice in the story is honest, direct, and personal. Ray Kroc talks about his struggles, journey and joys of building the Big Mac. Like any founder narrative it is skewed. But, it also is the quintessential story of American entrepreneur and free Enterprise there is. Ray is an inspiring story teller, who isn't afraid to call a spade by it's name. There are lots of lessons of perseverance, courage, mistakes and risks in this story.
The biggest joke Ray Kroc plays on this book is the subtitle he uses "Grinding it out". You'll see that if you love the work and life you live, like Ray did, it seems like a joyous ride and a life of adventure.
My final takeaway from this book is "Never stop dreaming and don't be afraid to dream big."1 person found this helpful

A quick fascinating book about Ray Kroc, the man you made McDonalds.
Sadly it was written in 1977 with and afterward of 1984, so it is a little dated. It is however a great look into what drove ever aspect of the McDonald's experience.
