About this audiobook
Widower Paul Aubrey wants nothing more than to return to the States with his little girl, but the US Army convinces him to keep his factory running and obtain military information from his German customers. As the war rages on, Paul offers his own resistance by sabotaging his product and hiding British airmen in his factory. After they meet in the bookstore, Paul and Lucie are drawn to each other, but she rejects him when she discovers he sells to the Germans. And for Paul to win her trust would mean betraying his mission.
Master of WWII-era fiction Sarah Sundin invites you onto the streets of occupied Paris to discover whether love or duty will prevail.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Just wonderful. A book full of surprises and a great ending.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The plot was serviceable, and the character development was superficial but adequate. Not sure why this is tagged as Christian fiction other than there are church scenes and some mention of God. Religion is really not involved in any meaningful way, which is fine. The reader was good but mispronounced many French words, which was jarring if you know French.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Romantic, great characters, historical, entertaining and educational, not too tense,
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I mostly loved it. It kinda seems to go on and on at the end but it still is a great read. The ending was a bit gushy. Endless happy lovey gush. But I’m an escapist reader and so I want happy endings. Maybe just not so err happy. Anyways, loved the ballet twist and how she used that to Lucy’s advantage, the stories of Josie, the way Paul ran his business and got along with his foreman. The narrator was mostly excellent. Again a bit too sweetsie at times but still very well done!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sarah Sundin's books are always well written. It was great to meet up again with characters from 'When Twilight Breaks', as well as see other aspects of how private characters in France might have dealt with the Nazi invasion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best books I have ever read! The story, the writing, the scenery- all so beautiful!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have enjoyed all of Sarah Sundin’s book. This one was particularly interesting to me. It would make a great movie!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book is 5 stars!
Audio sadly had some catches. Possibly a problem with the Scribd app though. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story. Characters where done really well and a good story behind them all
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A wonderful story about a fascinating, yet horrid time in history.
I listened to the audiobook version. It was read so fast at times that it felt rushed. All the accent changes were well done.
