Review I like to read a variety of genres from a variety of voices. This contemporary novel was disappointing. The writing was whimsical and darkly humorous, and the odd storyline did not scare me off, but the plot was clumsy and all over the place, here and there, without a semblance of organization. The characters were unengaging, and I was glad to make it to the anticlimactic ending. I wish I could get back the hours I spent reading it. 3 stars. For more reviews visit amyhagberg.com.

Malaysian immigrant woman and her Chinese/Indian immigrant husband reach an impasse in their marriage after his father dies and he diverges from his logical norms to take up dowsing. They are both working in the computer industry, trying to get their employers to sponsor them for green-cards, but do they both still want to stay in the US after all?
topics- gaslightling, sexism in the computing field, racism targeted towards East Asian people in the US, body-shaming of non-skinny but otherwise healthy women in Malaysia.
