About this audiobook
Is it possible that good things can come out of our broken dreams?
Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story’s life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Their lives would never be the same.
Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore Martin’s short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. The fairy-tale life Laura had dreamed of was no longer possible. And yet in struggling with God about how to live with broken dreams, Laura has found joy and a deeper intimacy with Jesus.
In When God Doesn’t Fix It, Laura helps you understand that:
- We aren’t the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns
- Even heroes of our faith experienced brokenness
- Despite our flaws and stories, God can use us in extraordinary ways
God may not fix everything. In fact, although your situation might not ever change or get better, with Jesus you can. Not because of your faith, but because of the faithfulness of God.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Oh wow. I’m not particularly eager to criticize a book or an author, but the book was entirely too long. At times, the reading seemed awkward, clunky, and repetitive. Other times, it appeared tangential and then would finally come to a moral or highlight towards the end of the chapter, and I would be so caught up in trying to understand the tangential I would almost miss the closing point or moral of the chapter. At one point, I ended up putting the book down and then didn’t read it for a month because I was so annoyed. At times I hated how much she infantilized her husband to the point that I felt highly disturbed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a must read for anyone going thru some tough times. This book tells the trials of Laura and her husband and how god is still with us even though we may not feel his presence. I recommend this book to everyone.
