About this audiobook
Simi is sent to stay with her grandmother in a remote village deep in the forests of Nigeria. Witch-like and tight-lipped about the past, her grandmother hints at a tragic family secret - but won't tell Simi the truth. Simi is desperate to discover it for herself, but it's only when she's caught in the red quicksand of a forbidden lake that her adventure truly begins. Along with new friends, Jay and Bubu, Simi must bring her family back together and restore peace to the village…

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book itself is a really good book. However, the narrator gave a less than satisfactory narration of the book - her imitation of the Nigerian accent is bad as are her pronunciations of Yoruba words.
The audiobook would have been better served by using a Nigerian narrator. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️??????????? so good ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ j u s t so goooood
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Such an amazing story about Yoruba myths, gods and adventure but the narrator did not make me enjoy the book as much with her mispronouncing of Yoruba names and words
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Even as an adult I was taken in by Simi and the Children of the Quicksand!Wonderful storytelling and I enjoyed every moment of it. Off to read the authors other novels.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was such a beautiful heartwarming story but the terrible accent of the narrator / poor Yoruba speaking nearly ruined it for me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A fascinating adventure. For me it was a wonderful opportunity to learn something about Nigerian Culture. Written by a Nigerian for Nigerian kids.
