- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I agree with Mr. Cooper. This is a valuable and fascinating account — actually, anything about Orwell is bound to be fascinating and, at times, quite moving — but I could have done without the customary (and dated) Trump-bashing at the end, which today, in our vastly more Orwellian society controlled by the left and the woke, comes across as little more than virtue-signaling. // P.S. Charles Armstrong contributes a thoroughly satisfying narration, though I would point out that “biopic” does not rhyme with “myopic."
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mr Taylor vividly brought the creation of this novel to life through a combination of interesting facts about Orwell’s personal life and wider related cultural references.
I found the writing taut and engaging.
Sadly in Chapter 9 his dreary and supercilious progressive world view, with its obligatory dash of TDS, was revealed.
A lack of self awareness of partial perspectives, life in a leftist bubble will do that to you, coupled with dishonest yet clever word smithing found him guilty of the charges he laid, based on thin evidence, against others.1 person found this helpful
